UK age verification only applies to UK audience?
 

I'm in discussion with a British adult webmaster about the forthcoming age verification plans for the UK. He's confident that UK webmasters will be fine so long as they verify UK visitors but are under no requirement to verify non-UK visitors. Apart from the fact that it is impossible to 100% be certain that a visitor is not from the UK (proxies etc), I believe he's being naive. He also points to German webmasters who continue to run hardcore tube sites on .com names (as opposed to .de names) as being unaffected by German age verification laws.

Personally, I think he's probably right.

Any UK Ip address has to be age verified before it can view adult content.

Lots of easy ways to do it.

If you dont do this be prepared to lose your billing and have your site blocked by UK Isps.

So the up side is you only have peeps on your site with the ability to pay, bots and scam traffic can take a hike. If you use your brain you create a funnel that has the punter frothing at the mouth, credit card in hand, desperate to see some titties by the time he gets to your payment page.

If your business is about attracting kids to your site with wall to wall free stolen content so you can display a clusterfuck of pops whilst dropping malware into the poor fuckers browser, then not so good.

Well in earlier threads you claim to have been part of the consultation process so you must know what you're talking about.

I'm curious about the threat to have offending webmasters banned by billing companies. Obviously this doesn't apply to affiliates, but perhaps they will go after the pay site being promoted on a non age verified site. Which would obviously mean that sponsors would insist that affiliates have the age verification checks in place.

UK may be a small country but is second (after US) in terms of paying customers and traffic.
