The Walking Dead Finale: Underwhelming?

They hyped the shit out of that 1 1/2 hour mid-season finale and my review is: meh.

Nothing can compare to when Neegan whacked Abraham and Glenn with Lucille at the end of last season so why bother trying to out-do that classic?

Lame.

I gave up on that show a good couple of series back now.

That's gonna be hard to beat....

The trash people that seemed to develop their own terse form of the English language over the course of 8 years or less after the apocalypse was bad enough. But when Jesus and several others suddenly started showing compassion for the saviours they fought and captured I had pretty much had enough. Really shitty season.

It's a shadow of it's former self, but I still watch because it built up a lot of credit with me over the years. That credit is being slowly erased the longer Negan stays alive.

Yeah and apparently Carl lives in the comic so wtf?
The kid probably had to go off to college. LOL

i thought the bashing heads in part was totally overrated. Yes, it was a crazy scene and a great way of sending off some key characters. But they made about 3 fucking episodes only dealing with that 1 scene of a couple of minutes... they took milking a situation to another level. For me the hours of whining around that scene took all the punch out of it. And that whole season was building up to that moment - i remember a walking dead where every episode was intense. That's completely gone for about 4 seasons already.

And every season it gets worse. CGI gunfire coming out of the guns, no casings, no recoils - i noticed this immediately and it looked like kids were playing war. Absolutely laughable and pathetic. The walking dead is an insult to the people who are stupid enough to still watch it, and that includes me :1orglaugh

Ha good point about the CGI bullets! I hadn't noticed that (not being a gun owner or into gun play that much). But it does look like kids playing war with all those "bullets" flying around and no one getting turned into swiss cheese. LOL

I hope that what happened to the character at the end happens to everyone else and they all die, ending the series.

I have a big problem with the obvious lack of gun experts behind the scenes on TWD. Everyone fires endlessly on full auto like there's unlimited ammo, while in that world bullets would be more valuable than anything else. But everyone just sprays 7.62 and 5.56 like it grows on trees. Where the fuck are all of these bullets coming from?

And it makes for a boring gunfight. There's no imagination in the gunfight choreography and the editing makes it hard to tell what's going on. Cut to this person shooting randomly. Cut to the other person shooting randomly. Repeat. There's no expert marksman picking off targets with single shots, flanking or anything cool. It's just leaning on the trigger and endless rat tat tat. A child could direct these scenes.

I'm not saying they haven't had good gunplay in the past on TWD, but that time has passed and they've become extremely lazy about it.

This is a fucking gunfight. The writers should watch the work of Christopher McQuarrie as mandatory education on how to do it.

It has gone the way most US TV series go. Writers run out of ideas so invent a plot that has no logic to it.

They should have pressed their advantage to the full when the saviours were penned in. The fact that the leaders of the saviours were outside talking their heads off and not shot made it ludicrous. Kill the leaders.

Dude that scene was piece of art for TWD series... I want Lucille break all heads from Team Rick!

Team Negan rulezzzzzz

brassmonkey 12-12-2017 04:58 AM

the show should have ended years ago. this is another lost the tv show series. they rode the negan crap too long

MsCheyenne 12-12-2017 05:43 AM

The show has gone drastically downhill. The season where Jesse and, Sam go out was the last good one. I couldn't even bare to finish the season finale. Killing Carl off was just as stupid as most of the writing. The Glen/fake death/dumpster scene was the beginning of the end for this show. Really sad...because the earlier series were amazing. Btw, the actor Chandler Riggings, did not want to be written off. It wasn't about him leaving the show. It was all about poor direction from the showrunner who has run this series right into the ground. My opinion on it anyway.

Yeah it's "Negan" (not 'Neegan') isn't it?
Who knows, I'm illiterate.

Good observations!
