BitPay no longer allow new signups in adult industry

That sucks!
Do you know any alternative?

Paul&John 12-14-2017 07:46 AM

What percentage of signups were done via BTC? (If I may ask) :)

All SeeMyBucks paysites uses BitPay and many members joins with them now.

From Bitpay.

"This is a recent change in our policies, we no longer allow new signups from the adult industry."

I suppose they keep the old deal running but for how long?

I guess we gonna make something like that... we don't run NATS, we have our own script so I suppose that's doable.

0 for now. We'd like to add bitcoin and I thought we could work with bitpay.

NewNick 12-14-2017 09:35 AM

I cannot see why anyone would use Bitcoin to pay for something.

If the value is rising you hold it surely.

Then when the value is falling merchants wont want to accept it.....

Roald 12-14-2017 09:38 AM

Anyone using GoCoin?

Fees are also an issue. Until the Bitcoin Core group get their act together and implement Lightning, blocks are chock full, meaning demand is much higher than supply, so the only way to push your transaction through is to pay a higher fee. In some cases you may have to increase the fee on an existing transaction just to get it through.

Nobody sane is going to pay a $30 fee to send $20.

doesn't matter. crypto currencies are an investment not a currency.

SNRProductions 12-14-2017 11:09 PM

Interesting. I wonder why they would no longer accept adult considering there are no chargebacks. I remember when we started with Bitpay, the adult market was very much of interest to them. They were trying to get strippers to accept Bitcoin at the time. They're a big part of the reason I started getting interested in crypto.

They're a middleman processor somewhat like ccbill, right? Guess the answer is that they still have to interface with 'traditional' banks.

Could also be that they have conservative investors which don't like to associate with adult.

I used bitpay 2 days ago succesfully

I believe the second is most accurate. I guess they just got a 30M investment around the same time they changed the policy.
