Trump Voters, He's Taking You For Suckers

Twenty campaign promises Trump has broken.

1. He told you he?d cut your taxes, and that the super-rich like him would pay more.

You bought it. But his new tax law does the opposite.

By 2027, according several nonpartisan analyses, the richest 1 percent will have got 83 percent of the tax cut and the richest 0.1 percent, 60 percent of it.

2. He promised to close ?special interest loopholes that have been so good for Wall Street investors but unfair to American workers,? especially the notorious ?carried interest? loophole for private-equity, hedge fund, and real estate partners.

You bought it. But the new tax law keeps the ?carried interest? loophole.

3. He told you he?d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something ?beautiful.?

You bought it. But he didn?t repeal and he didn?t replace. (Just as well: His plan would have knocked at least 23 million off health insurance, including many of you.) Instead, he?s doing what he can to cut it back and replace it with nothing.

4. He told you he?d invest $1 trillion in our nation? crumbling infrastructure.

You bought it. But after his giant tax cut for corporations and millionaires, there?s no money left for infrastructure.

5. He said he?d clean the Washington swamp.

You bought it. But he?s brought into his administration more billionaires, CEOs, and Wall Street moguls than in any administration in history, to make laws that will enrich their businesses, and he?s filled departments and agencies with former lobbyists, lawyers and consultants who are crafting new policies for the same industries they recently worked for.

6. He said he?d use his business experience to whip the White House into shape.

You bought it. But he has created the most dysfunctional, back-stabbing White House in modern history, and has already fired and replaced so many assistants (one of them hired and fired in a little more than a week) that people there barely know who?s in charge of what.

7. He told you he?d ?bring down drug prices? by making deals with drug companies.

You bought it. But now the White House says that promise is ?inoperative.?

8. He promised ?a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.?

You bought it. But foreign lobbyists are still raising money for American elections.

9. He told you ?I?m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I?m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid.?

You bought it. But he and House Speaker Paul Ryan are already planning such cuts in order to deal with the ballooning deficit created, in part, by the new tax law for corporations and the rich.

10. He promised ?six weeks of paid maternity leave to any mother with a newborn child whose employer does not provide the benefit.?

You bought it. But the giant tax cut for corporations and the rich doesn?t leave any money for this.

11. He said that on Day One he?d label China a ?currency manipulator.?

You bought it. But then he met with China?s president Xi Jinping and declared ?China is not a currency manipulator.?

12. He said he wouldn?t bomb Syria.

You bought it. But then he bombed Syria.

13. He said he?d build a ?wall? across the southern border.

You believed him. But there?s no money for that, either.

Chief of staff John Kelly says it is ?unlikely that we will build a wall, a physical barrier, from sea to shining sea.?

14. He promised that the many women who accused him of sexual misconduct ?will be sued after the election is over.?

You bought it. He hasn?t sued them, presumably because he doesn?t want the truth to come out.

15. He said he would not be a president who took vacations.

?I would not be a president that takes time off,? he promised, and he called Barack Obama ?the vacationer-in-Chief.?

You bought it. But since becoming President he has spent nearly 25 percent of his days at one of his golf properties for some portion of the day, according to Golf News Network, at a cost to taxpayers of over $77 million.

That?s already more taxpayer money on vacations than Obama cost in the first 3 years of his presidency.

16. He said he?d force companies to keep jobs in America, and that there would be ?consequences? for companies that shipped jobs abroad.

You believed him. But despite their promises, Carrier, Ford, GM, and the rest have continued to ship jobs to Mexico and China. Carrier (a division of United Technologies) has moved ahead with plans to send 1,000 jobs at its Indiana plant to Mexico.

17. He promised to revive the struggling coal industry and ?bring back thousands? of lost mining jobs.

You bought it. But coal jobs continue to disappear. Since Trump?s victory, at least 6 plants that relied on coal have closed or announced they will close.

Another 40 are projected to close during the president?s four-year term. Utilities continue to switch to natural gas instead of coal.

18. He promised to protect steel workers.

But according to the American Iron and Steel Institute, which tracks shipments, steel imports were 19.4 percent higher in the first 10 months of 2017 than in the same period last year.

19. He said he?d make America safer.

You believed him. But according to Mass Shooting Tracker, there have been 377 mass shootings so far this year, including 58 people killed and hundreds injured at a concert in Las Vegas, and 26 churchgoers killed and 20 injured at a church in Texas.

Trump refuses to consider any gun controls.

20. He said he?d release his taxes.

?I?m under a routine audit and it?ll be released, and as soon as the audit is finished it will be released,? he promised during the campaign.

He hasn?t released his taxes.

Lol, quit reading after first ridiculous statement.

You need to look at percentages, not absolute numbers in terms of how much each bracket's tax was cut.
Of course in absolute numbers rich would get more cuts as they pay lion's share of total taxes.

Shows how easy it is to twist and manipulate numbers and rabble.

What country do you live in?

The thing I am talking is purely numbers and how you present them. Country is irrelevant in understanding that percentages and not absolute numbers are the ones you need to compare in this case.

Your low level IQ shines as usual here if you think that country has anything to do with how you analyze numbers like that.

Shit take a random example:

A pays $1000 income tax.
B pays $ 100.000 income tax.

Give A 10% tax cut, give B 1% tax cut.
A saves $100, B saves $1.000.

You could scream that rich guy got more tax cuts and small guy got nothing (1000 vs 100 bucks) or you could be proper and see that rich guy got only 1% while poor one got 10% and absolute numbers are higher just because rich pay lion share of the taxes.

If you still do not understand basic principles of which was is accurate and which was is used when you deliberately want to manipulate the rabble, nobody will help you.

Here is a great Life Lesson and something every voter should live by:

Just assume whatever a politician says (Democrat, Republican, anyone) is 180 degrees the OPPOSITE of what they will really do.

If you took that approach nothing on the OP's list would surprise anyone.

crockett 01-02-2018 11:32 AM

Anyone who can be sold on a tax cut that is not funded and adds a trillion dollars to our national debt is a sucker.. We see plenty of them right here on GFY.

The same morons that voted for Trump are the same morons that still today will argue there were WMDs in Iraq...

These people have a history of being taken advantage of, because they are willfully ignorant.

This is what I hate about politicians. It's stunning that when a Democrat was President Republicans screamed about the deficit but now that a Republican is office the deficit is no longer important. That's wrong.

We can all agree raising the deficit is bad. We need to do everything we can to get it under control.

Do you live in this country? Do you pay taxes in this country? Do you have anything to do with this country?

Yet you sit there day and night pretending you're American and acting like you're some expert and obsessed with everything that goes on here, and on top of it a scared pussy to reveal where you even live. Do you think that's normal? I'm starting to think you're confined to some mental institution in Eastern Europe and you're just killing time, there is no other logical explanation.

Hey Crockette- That 1.2 Trillion is spread over TEN YEARS. Why didn't you mention this key detail?? Oh right, you're trying to spin a false narrative. (Or you're dumb and believe CNN) Oh and BO took the debt from $10T to 20T, wow what a hero.

WMDs in Iraq- didn't Senator Hillary agree that was true, and she voted to go to war because of it? You voted for that idiot? LOL!

I never voted for Bush. WMDs in Iraq was a lie. It was obvious then, it was obvious now, I've been saying for years that the Bushes and Cheney should be imprisoned for war crimes.

When will you clowns wake up and realize that Trump is the best thing that's ever happened to this country and the world? He's the ONLY one who made his billions legally, with businesses that only thrive in a good economy. You idiots vote for war-mongers like BO and HRC. and here we are with the middle east in ruins, and an international refugee crisis. But you wanted more Hillary... Nice job, idiots but the smart people are in charge now.

I don't know the exact number, but yes, Obama sure did add to the deficit. This was a difficult decision. However, at the time it was needed. People were losing their jobs, their houses, and needed support at multiple levels.

Now... Our economy is better, unemployment is low, people aren't losing their houses and now that the economy is stable... There is no need for this. We are going to lower taxes and raise the deficit for no reason what so ever.

I get a tax break because I own a llc.. I'd still rather do with out the tax cut and have us pay our fucking bills because I'm smart enough to understand how short sighted this tax cut is. This tax cut and the trillion it adds will cost us more in the long run..

Just so I have this right...

You're pissed at these tax cuts which could, I assume, since you own several businesses, save you 10's of thousands of dollars a year, you're mad because they will add 1.5 trillion over the next 10 years to an already 20 trillion dollar debt.

So saving you 10's of thousands of dollars a year ...you're made and hate Trump for it.

Where the fuck do you get that shit from? Did you study democracy as taught by Mussolini or some shit? Or maybe you had Joseph McCarthy as your Poly Sci teacher?

Questioning, opposing and disliking the powers that be is as American as apple pie.

.

You only "think" Trump should not be president because those powers that be you claim to question, do not want him as president as well, therefore they use the media to constantly hammer you to death with anti Trump rhetoric based on nothing.

Trump voters were fed up with the "powers that be" and they actually did something about it by giving the presidency to anyone but yet another evil Washington establishment elite puppet. The Trump vote was the biggest form of democratic resistance and a 'fuck you' to those "powers that be". By believing the lies and constant anti Trump propaganda, you are actually a pawn serving the "powers that be", while having the false believe you are the opposite.

This "Trump Voter" nonsense is absurd. People shouldn't be labeled and, herded into two neat little groups. A lot of people, myself included, voted for Trump because it was a vote against one of the most corrupt politicians in history. (HRC) The two party system is not working. Too many people are too busy insulting each other to see this. It has become a bread and, circus scam. As long as the government keeps us distracted, they can do whatever they want. The question that people who do not like Trump should be asking is, "How did things become so bad that the American people would put anyone in office instead of another career politician?"

How about we all stop voting in a corrupt system and protest until the system is fixed? No? Too European?

OK just checking. Carry on. :)

Europe, a corrupt dictatorial 4th reich bureacracy where the EU overrules any citizens vote that goes against them, is probably the worst example.

How about we all stop paying taxes until the system if fixed? The glaring issue with any protest or, reform, is that the people have to be on the same side. Right now, the government and, media keeps everyone distracted. What happened to the "Let them eat cake days?" ;-)

Sadly, I think that statement is somewhat true. He had been eyeing the presidency since the 90's. He is a smart man, regardless of what people think. There was a time when he wanted Jessie Ventura to run with him on the DNC ticket. Trump waited for his most opportune time, against the weakest candidate, and seized the day. While he could be a stand out among independents and, the public in general, he seems to be pandering to the religious right and, following an overly simplified narrative of voting bases. I'd still vote for him again over HRC in a minute. Yet, I am disappointed that he is just following the bouncing ball instead of standing up for the American people. Let's face it, the American people are screwed. The government has had too much power for too long. Everyone is too busy fighting with each other and, falling into the currant day media mayhem to take notice.
