Trump/Sessions are getting set to go after legal marijuana
Attorney General Jeff Sessions plans to roll back an Obama-era policy that had allowed legal marijuana to thrive without federal intervention, Fox News confirmed Thursday.
The Obama administration back in 2013 announced via a memo from then-Deputy Attorney General James Cole that it would not obstruct states that legalized marijuana, on the condition the drug was not allowed to move to states where it was illegal and it was kept away from children and gangs. Sessions is expected to announce that he will rescind that memo and instead leave it to U.S. attorneys in states where the drug is legal to decide to what extent they will enforce federal laws. The Associated Press reported that the move will likely add to confusion among users and suppliers about whether they can grow, buy and sell marijuana in states -- as federal law bans it. The government regards marijuana as a controlled dangerous substances, grouped together with drugs such as heroin. Sessions has blamed its increased use for spikes in violence in the U.S. Attorney General Sessions to end Obama-era policy that let legal pot flourish | Fox News |

If Trumpy doesn't smoke-up then no one can smoke up.
Next he will come for your booze. then pee. |
I don't smoke pot myself - I just zero interest in it. However, it makes no sense to make it illegal, and then spend all of this money policing it and keeping people in jail. Tax it, and in the process turn it from a waste of tax payer money to a profit generating center for taxpayers - plus more jobs.

Watch the Trump supporters here, on a porn board, that don't work in porn, tell us how they agree with Jeff Sessions. The fake nics operated by the Polish troll will likely be the first to defend Jeff Sessions.

You may be more correct than you think.... Jeff Sessions? Marijuana Adviser Wants Doctors to Drug-Test Everyone A adviser on marijuana policy to Attorney General Jeff Sessions wants to see doctors make drug testing a routine part of primary-care medicine and force some users into treatment against their will, he told The Daily Beast. Dr. Robert DuPont was among a small group of drug-policy experts invited to a closed-door meeting with Sessions last month to discuss federal options for dealing with the rapid liberalization of state marijuana laws. California became the sixth state to allow the sale of marijuana for recreational use on Jan. 1. DuPont, 81, is one of the most influential drug warriors of the past century. He began his career as a liberal on drug control in the 1970s, calling then for the decriminalization of marijuana possession and launching the first U.S. methadone treatment program for heroin in Washington, D.C. in 1971. By the 1980s, he shifted to the right, popularizing the claim marijuana was a ?gateway drug.? At the December 2017 meeting with Sessions, DuPont was slated to present on ?the effect of marijuana on drugged driving,? a topic on which he has proposed some radical ideas. A national model bill he helped write in 2010 called on law enforcement to test anyone stopped for suspicion of driving under the influence for all controlled substances, and arresting them if any trace at all shows up in their system?regardless of the amount. While the bill includes an exemption for drivers who consumed a drug pursuant to a prescription, it would not apply to medicinal-marijuana users because doctors are not currently allowed to prescribe pot, only offer a recommendation for its use. The bill?s language makes clear that these people will still face sanction even if they live in a state in which medical marijuana is legal. https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeff-s...-test-everyone |

You guys are missing the point. Republicans hate legal pot, because big Pharma gives them money to hate it. The reason being, inn states with legal pot there are massive drops in painkiller prescriptions..
Legal pot is bad for big Pharma business so Republicans are aginst it.. |

Oddly enough it's four days after pot became legal in California.
This administration has no agenda, no idea what to do. It sees a headline and has a knee jerk reaction without thinking. |

Just like with porn, nothing is going to happen. The genie is out of the bottle, the tax money is flowing and too many people support legalization in "legal states." The feds are simply playing lip service to some of their base, and putting states on notice to keep it under control.
|
Colorado has lalready said no changes due to this.
|
It gives states the right to enforce federal law if they want to.
They aren't going to waste money in places like California, Oregon or Colorado. It is still against federal law which causes all kinds of problems, like with banking. For the record, I think the law that CA passed was a poorly written law and I have always said people are going to regret voting for it. Who knows, maybe the feds can force the repeal and we can get a good law written. |

A couple of months ago a class action lawsuit was filed against Sessions due to medical marijuana not being legal in all states. It was filed on behalf of a veteran, a 12 year old who suffers seizures and, a retired NFL player who suffered injuries. It was long over due. It will be interesting to see how it goes. Too bad it isn't getting more press.
When it comes to recreational use, Trey Gowdy grilled the White House Drug Policy Director on how he could justify marijuana being listed as a class 3 drug. This makes marijuana considered a more dangerous drug than cocaine or meth. Gowdy was clear to say that it is not for legalizing it but, condemns the over criminalization of it. He ridiculed the guy. It was a a riot to watch. Coming from Gowdy, of all people, it was at least a step in the right direction. If the Trump administration goes after marijuana, it will backfire on them. This said, I voted for Trump and, would over someone like HRC. But, it is disappointing to see religious wingnuts like Sessions in his administration. I've got to wonder if he feels he owes it to the Fallwell type crowd to appoint such nutjobs. |
