Full video of Border Agents asking U.S. citizens to show their papers:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are defending their right to detain and arrest a woman found on a Greyhound bus in Fort Lauderdale without legal documents proving her citizenship. According to CBS Miami, agents boarded the bus on Friday as part of a routine inspection and asked passengers for proof of citizenship. A video taken by a passenger, which was later posted on Twitter by the immigrant advocacy group Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), appears to show a border agent asking a woman the location of her belongings before taking her off the bus. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/border-...s-amid-outcry/ |

I took a Greyhound once when I was a teenager and we went through New Mexico, close to the border of Mexico. I remember waking up to a flashlight in my face from the Border Patrol who had boarded the bus doing the same thing. This was 30+ years ago. It has been happening for a long time. People are just more sensitive about it these days.

Add wall to all this, it will be fun!

I should absolutely be able to travel anywhere in the U.S. without having to worry about some governmental authority asking me to prove I have a right to be here. The 4th amendment states so. Asking for my ID is the same as a search. |

That is not what America is supposed to be about. . |
take a mental note. the people that have a problem are illegals and the tools that support them. tool :)

You are a fool to think that overreaches of the government cannot be used against you. But we already knew you were a fool so no new information has been produced today except that you learned that Mexico is not part of the U.S.A. :thumbsup . |

Now border checks are wrong? Just wow.

I was in New Zealand a couple of weeks ago, the internal flight was delayed a few hours and I got talking to this American collage kid on his first overseas trip and he was FREAKING out, cos the cops have no guns, and there's no security check for individuals or luggage just walk out to the plane and hop on, show ticket no id needed either. The poor kid was calling home to mom asking her if he should get on.
You don't get in a bar here in Sydney on weekends without Photo Government ID doesn't matter how old you look either, no id no entry. And that's pretty much standard everywhere now even my local pub.. fuck it. |

Agents can do checks within 100 miles of the ocean. Is that a new rule from Trump?? No?? Ok then, what's the problem? Blame the previous admin. When you buy a bus ticket you agree that this can happen.
Shoulda used craigslist ride share :1orglaugh :pimp |

Yes, educate yourself old man. We now have law enforcement climbing on random buses checking ID just like Nazi Germany. |

Wait. We are not supposed to have to do that in the streets of our cities! |

This is EXACTLY what they did in Nazi Germany. EXACTLY. The very term "show me your papers" comes from Nazi Germany. They checked the papers of Jews. Then they went after the Gypsies, then the homosexuals - and then anyone who opposed their regime. |

Some parts of the United States were parts of Mexico. Remember, this will all be on the final so you better study your ass off. No time for playing with your friend Dave. Oh that's right, you and he had a lover's quarrel. I forgot. . |

These are checks by border agents well within the United States territory, not at the border. Edited in: I had not read the rest of the replies. I see that is the point of discussion now. Sorry about that. The ACLU page that BadDog posted speaks for itself. It claims that the Border patrol does not really obey the law (in their opinion). The rule about the 100 mile zone is not a law. It is a rule created by the DOJ. It does directly conflict with the fourth amendment (as they note several times). It is bullshit that an American Citizen, inside the U.S. can be subject to random search and seizure without a warrant. That is exactly what our constitution and laws are supposed to protect against. I have traveled very close to the border of the U.S. many times. Prior to this last summer, the last time I had driven the southern route was 2005, going to San Diego. Before this trip I had never encountered a checkpoint by the Border Patrol anywhere except on the border going into Mexico or Canada. The only checkpoint, inside the U.S. proper, that I had ever encountered was the fruit fly checkpoint coming into California. This last trip, as I said, I encountered 2 border patrol checkpoints, one fairly near to the border somewhere between San Diego and Arizona, but the second was way off the border, although it might have been in the 100 mile zone, North of El Paso, Texas. 2:00am on a very dark night, in the middle of nowhere, dogs and guards with M16s as I said earlier. . |

But it is a community and I am just not going to let the board forget that you are a Butcher Buddy so therefore everything you do or say is tainted. Now, let's review for your fans. Exactly what part of Mexico used to be part of the U.S.? . |

I don't care what you say. I don't care what your map says. ALL OF FLORIDA is a not a freaking border. It's not even a border state. It was at a bus station. |
