Best movie of 2017

What was the best movie you saw in 2017?

I would have to go with either 3 Billboards, or Call me by your name. Both of them were exceptional.

CaptainHowdy 01-30-2018 11:36 AM

The only movie I saw during 2017 was Blade Runner -2049 ...

oppoten 01-30-2018 12:00 PM

The Jewish Century is done, fam. Move on.

Actually yes! Not classic cinema, but an original story. I liked it. :thumbsup

I liked it. It was really good Science Fiction and a good continuation of the original story, BUT, it didn't LOOK like the original Bladerunner in any way, and it didn't FEEL like Bladerunner either.

The original was very film-noir. (I'm one of the few who liked the original version with Deckard's narratio)n. The color palette of the original was very teal, whereas the new one was red and orange. The reason for the color shift is good, but to me it didn't "feel" like Bladerunner because of this.

N EE WAYZzz... sorry for the rant.

It's still a really good movie, and worth watching. It's directed by a Quebecer (Denis Villeneuve) who also directed Arrival (another great movie) .

Bladerunner 2049 (my favorite)
Brawl in Cell Block 99
Dunkirk
Baby Driver
The Killing of a Sacred Deer
Mother
Thor Ragnarok

GAMEFINEST 01-31-2018 11:12 AM

Blade Runner was tight.

AubreyNova 02-01-2018 03:22 AM

The last one I saw was Thor Ragnarok and it was so funny.

bronco67 02-01-2018 03:40 AM

Blade Runner 2049
Wind River
Dunkirk

I have a soft spot in my cold little heart for Brawl in Cell Block 99

Paul&John 02-01-2018 04:32 AM

I didnt liked the original Blade Runner but the new one was pretty decent. And the avatar chick was pretty hot too.

Pryda 02-01-2018 08:29 AM

There wasn't one that stood out, like Arrival did in 2016. But I did see several good movies.

Shot Caller
Baby Driver
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Dunkirk
Alien: Covenant
Get Out
Life
Kong: Skull Island
Split
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Haven't seen Blade Runner yet.

I liked all 3 of those. Took my son to see Guardians 2 and thought I'd be bored but I loved it. He said he liked it better than the first one (which I never saw).

I watched Kong Skull Island a few days ago. I thought it was entertaining and the soundtrack was pretty good.

Fucking hated Star wars: The Last Jedi. And i'm a fucking Star Wars geek.

Other than that I can't think of anything I thought "wow".

Indeed, Star Wars was a letdown. I wonder what the new "Solo" movie will be like.

Markul 02-02-2018 08:47 AM

Blade runner for sure

Had a great pleasure watching "Gold" with Matthew McConaughey last year.
"Collateral Beauty" is also a good movie

mikesouth 02-02-2018 06:19 PM

Honestly Id go for True Detective (the first one) or Bosch over anything in theaters in 2017 and yes I know True Detective is a few yrs old but my point is that there is way better stuff on your TV than in theaters

lezinterracial 02-02-2018 11:17 PM

Guardians of The Galaxy 2,
American Made,
Somebody else mentioned "Gold" - I like it, but don't love it, but it is because I already knew the story from an episode of "American Greed".

Wind River - Looks great, I want to see it.
Thor - Looks great, I want to see it.

Bladewire 02-02-2018 11:18 PM
