People are always posting their pictures of their cool office. This was my office for the past 5 months. Couldn't post for there as GFY was blocked.
Next time you renew your car insurance, check your uninsured motorist and medical limits. Unfortunately the minimum in Kansas is $25,000.
Labor Day weekend my neighbor is 86 and doesn't drive any more. For his bad back he takes morphine and has no appetite. So every evening he sends me to McD's for a sausage biscuit and hash brown.
Walking to the door, a 24 year-old kid rounded the side of the building, in excess of 30 mph and knocked me so hard that I was slammed onto his windshield and then to the pavement. Broke both legs, just below the knees and my left shoulder.
Just got out of a care facility and the surgery, hospital stay was over $151,000. Still not got all the bills and the care facility was $42,000 and no clue about physical therapy.
The kid's insurance paid $25,000 and mine paid $25,000 although I had $50,000 worth of coverage. My lawyer said I pay for the coverage, but somehow the insurance doesn't have to pay the other $25,000.
So you can see you probably need more insurance. A family of 4 in a wreck could run up a huge bill.
Since it was private property, the kid got off without a ticket. At the corner of the building, is an electronic sign that blocked his view. It's dangerous as little kids are always running out that door, as the playground is right inside.
My lawyer figures there are at least 6 reasons why the parking lot was unsafe, so I guess I'll be spending the next few years in court.
The care center is so bad I had the state inspectors out 3 times. They were understaffed and the night nurses and aids got so fed up they came to work one night, saw they weren't getting any more help, turned around and all went home.
When I told a KC FaceBook group where I was, I got dozens of horror stories of people that had family there.
The administrator is too busy banging several nurses to run the place properly. His Linkedin page shows his last 7 jobs lasted less than 6 months each.
I was allowed 1 6-ounce glass of wine a night, so about a dozen women I didn't know, from the FaceBook group, brought me bottles/boxes of wine and snacks. Several snuck in vodka. One of the nurses told me the administrator knew I was drinking and didn't do anything about it. Said he was scarred of me. Every week, late at night I sent him an email with pictures of the bad conditions. My lawyer got a copy and he'd fax it on to the state. Then to make sure he got it, I'd text him about midnight.
