Deepfake pornographic videos banned by Twitter
 

Twitter is the latest platform to ban a new type of pornographic video that replaces the original actor's face with that of another person.

The clips, known as deepfakes, typically use the features of female TV personalities, actors and pop singers.

Unlike some social networks, Twitter allows hardcore pornography on its platform.

But it said deepfakes broke its rules against intimate images that featured a subject without their consent.

The San Francisco-based company acted six hours after a Twitter account dedicated to publishing deepfake clips was publicised on a Reddit forum.

News site Motherboard was first to report the development.

Can this be done by app, where face and what ever you want to morph it on are kept on different servers and only merged client end?

The person who started it made a program. You still need a beefy GPU, patience, and lots of source material. Apparently it takes almost a day of the software 'learning' just to make a tiny 15 second clip and YMMV with results.

We've already had holograms and whatnot of dead celebrities, but these were done at a cost of millions USD by professional VFX companies (not to mention having permission). What makes deepfakes different is now you can make semi-believable ones on a home computer setup with only a little bit of prerequisite computer knowledge.
