Tennessee Sheriff Said ?I Love This Shit? After Ordering Deputies To Shoot Suspect: Video

The wife of a deceased motorist is suing a Tennessee sheriff for excessive force after newly surfaced body camera footage caught him telling officers that he would rather they shoot a suspect than risk damage to patrol cars.

In the video obtained by News Channel 5 and released Tuesday, White County Sheriff Oddie Shoupe appeared unfazed and even jubilant about the death of Michael Dial, who law enforcement fatally shot as he was trying to outrun police on April 13, 2017.

?I said don?t ram him ― shoot him,? Shoupe is heard telling officers in the video. ?Fuck that shit. Ain?t gonna tear my cars up.?

Local police say they stopped Dial in a Dekalb County parking lot earlier that day while investigating a reported shoplifting incident, according to county officials. The officers discovered that Dial had a suspended license and told him he could not drive. Police later observed him driving on a state highway that same day. After they attempted to pull him over and he fled, police began pursuing him. According to the lawsuit, he was driving about 50 mph, and footage of the pursuit shows the speed limit was 55 mph.

Smithville police officers, as well as deputies from DeKalb County and White County, initially attempted to stop Dial?s pickup truck and attached trailer by ramming into it with their cars. But Shoupe can be heard instructing his deputies to stop hitting the vehicle and start using ?deadly force,? according to dashboard camera video from one of the patrol cars.

White County Deputy Adam West proceeded to open fire on Dial?s truck from his vehicle and again as Dial?s truck drove into an embankment on the side of the highway. Sparta police officer Charlie Sims stopped his patrol car as he witnessed Dial?s truck crashing and fired several shots at the vehicle.

Shoupe: I told him, I said, ?Take him out.?

Officer: I heard.

Shoupe: Damn, I don?t give a shit.

Officer: It wasn?t long after that I heard ?Shot fired. Shots fired.?

Shoupe: They said we?re ramming him. I said don?t ram him ― shoot him ... Fuck that shit. Ain?t gonna tear my cars up ... If they don?t think I?ll give the damn order to kill that motherfucker, they?re full of shit.

(laughter)

Shoupe: Take him out. I?m here on the damn wrong end of the damn county ... I love this shit. God, I tell you what, I thrive on it.

There has long been an argument when it comes to chasing cars.

But first and foremost. The Chiefs of Police for Florida, Georgia, Alabama and I believe the Carolinas have a No chase policy for standard crimes and Felonies. Supposedly its only for Force-able felony. BUt if they guy is Under the speed limit and as long as he is not breaking street laws, then its not considered a chase.

The argument is. Is the vehicle a Deadly weapon and should deadly force be used to stop that vehicle.

As for the statements by the " Sheriff " there is a slim chance they were taken out of context or at least some of them, but he is fucked.

I need a new job. I don't have much compassion anymore.

Deal with tweekers from Cookeville, Sparta, Monterey, Livingston, Gainesboro, fucking Clay county every day.

Covered in ugly sores. Reeking of pot. Walking all over the store. One of their asshole friends chatting me up and trying to distract me while the other is dumping shit in their purse. Shitty car with the bumper missing parked on the side of the building, trying to hide their car.

I wish I bought a bunch of bitcoin back in the day. I would still have some compassion.

Cookeville. I work at the Dollar General on 70, Between the 4 star hotel Winona and the elegant Eastwood Inn.

I remember Alan Jackson used to have a house out there. I went fishing/boating once down the Caney Fork. We went down to the dam. That was pretty nice.

It's a beautiful lake. I think a lot of growth will be going on around the lake for some years to come. With natives like me wanting to get the fuck out of Nashville. I'll probably be moving my business out off 40 somewhere between Lebanon and Cookeville as well.

Yes, This area is growing crazy. Developers are driving the prices up. Probably cheaper and safer than moving to a third world country.

The drug problem isn't just a local thing. Going on all over the country. Nashville had a bad year for murders last year. 107 murders. Good idea to move out.

Well that's just it. The interviewed officer said they never got over 50 mph and it was more like a funeral procession then a chase. From what I could tell, he was already of the road when they open fired and blew his brains all over the dashboard....this should be tried in the highest courts and that fukwit sheriff needs to pay for his actions and statements, period.

+ one. :thumbsup

how is what he did and ordered in any way shape or form legal? He told them to use deadly force for no reason which they cannot do and he's on tape. I'm wondering when will they fire him and bring charges........if that county doesn't then the larger court systems should, even a civil rights federal violation is 20 years mandatory min.

There has to be more news on this? NO way this goes along ok.
