But you bring up an interesting point: I don't know if laying down in front of the tanks would be a good idea.

The obvious message it would send would be "stop war", "war is bad", etc, But most people, even looney-lefties like me, understand the value and importance of defence, and the sacrifice soldiers make. Laying down in front of tanks could be seen as an insult to those soldiers and even their families, which is something I would never want.

I think a military parade is a great idea when done for a great reason: The end of a war. "Look everyone, here are the men, women, machines and technology that ended the war and brought peace back. Yayyy". Good.

The parade that Trump wants is for no reason whatsoever except to glorify Trump, and maybe to show off some how to Kim Jong Un. This idea deserves protest. It's a stupid, embarrassing, accomplishes nothing and wastes money.

I wouldn't lay down in front of a tank to protest this though, because I don't think he would get the message anyway. It would just piss alot of other people off, and accomplish nothing in my opinion.

I have a better idea... Instead of one big parade in our governments capital, how about we send our military out to local parades instead - every one of them.

I am involved in a charity where we put on our fireworks for the town on the 4th of July. Don't kid yourself - we have to raise some $40k every year. We have a huge day long party and run everything except for the parade. It would be so nice to a few tanks and other military hardware rolling down Main Street USA every year...

It's the equivalent of a little dick asshole buying a giant truck with dual vertical exhausts and chrome nuts hanging from the trailer hitch.

Members of the military do not want a parade. I talked to a buddy of mine who is an active special forces soldier, and the talk amongst his constituents is that this is not a parade to honor them, this parade is only meant to honor trump. They want to be honored with better health benefits. They want to know that their families and themselves will be adequately provided for if something bad happens. This is something that government is falling short on.

A parade will cost several millions of dollars. Money that could be better spent taking care of soldiers who have been wounded in combat.
