Why is that a piece of shit? Look, I'm not defending Hillary, but what she says is correct. If you feel having some kind of common sense gun reform put in place is going to reduce the chances of this kind of thinking happening you start by voting for people who agree with you and will do just that.

funny how more and more guns laws are written and the gun violence seems to go up, maybe that's not the solution? Asking for a friend! LOL

Which is her point of view and it is shared by millions around the country. There are some people who feel like there is nothing we can do to stop these, others disagree. She is saying if you feel gun laws are the way to stop these then vote that way in November. That is no more a shitty thing to say than "Now is not the time to talk about gun control" then never saying anything more and doing nothing.

Why wasn't it stopped when they had control before?

Why wasn't gun violence stopped when Democrats had control? If that is what you are asking I can give you several reasons.

1. Republicans blocking and filibustering
2. Elected officials getting a shitload of money from various gun lobbies.
3. The Democrats didn't really move to change much. They did a few things, but nothing of any real significance.
4. Many politicians fearing this issue so just steering clear of it.

I'm not suggesting the Democrats will solve this problem. I know the Republicans won't. What I am saying is that all she is saying is that if there is a candidate who you feel shares the same beliefs as you when it comes to gun control, you should vote for them. There is nothing shitty about that.

Personally, I think there are only three ways to change this and none of them are good.

1. We have to figure out what has changed culturally and try to fix that problem. I doubt this will happen because we are all over the map when it comes to why we think this is happening.

2. Ban all guns. Yes, I know criminals will still have guns, but this guy wasn't a typical criminal and typical people will have a very difficult time getting their hands an assault rifle.

3. Enact strict gun control laws that will allow those legally allowed to own a gun to get one, however, they are going to have to jump through a bunch of hoops and red tape to get one. The more obstacles you put between a person and a gun the more chances someone will catch the crazy person and keep them from getting the gun.

I can't see any of these three ever happening.

In short, I don't think what Hillary said is shitty. That said, I don't think this problem is going to go away anytime soon.
