20-year-old sues Dick's, Walmart over new gun policies
well well well wtf did i say?!! :1orglaugh :thumbsup:thumbsup
college money!! The lawsuits, obtained by The Associated Press, are believed to be the first filed over the new gun policies. Oregon law allows residents to buy shotguns or rifles starting at 18. Tyler Watson's lawsuits, which were filed against the retailers in Jackson and Josephine counties, both ask a judge to put a stop to the retailers' new gun sale policies and award punitive damages because of the "willful nature of the discrimination." On Tuesday, the state Bureau of Labor and Industries said in a letter to state legislative leaders that the bureau would accept complaints from Oregonians who feel they have been discriminated against by the policies. Without commenting on the merits of Watson's lawsuits, Commissioner Brad Avakian said state law currently only allows for age-related exemptions for alcohol and marijuana sales. The bureau will present a bill to add a similar age restriction for gun sales to the legislature next year for consideration, he said, adding that the policies seemed "appropriate" because they attempted to make public spaces safer. article... |

I'm curious how these types of suits will turn out. There are 15 states that have laws requiring a person to be 21 to buy a pistol and two states that require you to be 21 to buy a rifle. I wonder why those states haven't been sued before?

I support the gun regulations but age discrimination is not the right way to go about it. I've never supported no drinking till 21 and so on. If you are an adult at 18 then they shouldn't be able to limit drinking, guns or whatever.. If you can make the decision to join the military and get killed fighting then you shouldn't be looked at as a child when it comes to drinking ect..
The regulation needs to come by way of background checks with mental health assessments and some sort of licensing that requires a few hurdles to get assault rifles and high capacity clips or to buy the ammo. |

The right wingers like onwebcam are like the Muslim extremist who convince teenagers to go blow themselves up while being too scared to lift a finger themselves.. |
So the logic here is that people under 21 lack the maturity to use firearms responsibly...
Ok, then that means people under 21 should not have the right to vote then too, right? And yet the left wants to let 5 years olds choose their own gender. What a bunch of lunatics :1orglaugh :rasta |

He sued them, because shooting them wasn't an option with the guns locked behind the counter.

As long as the store/vendor has their policy publicly posted you can't force them to sell to you. Just like stores that are closed on Sundays. Google it

Gunshop owners can refuse to sell guns for a number of legal reasons, including nobody under 21. Look at the well established precedent here. |

Only in America would this be a debate.
