I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the Election. Unlike others, they pay little or no taxes to state & local governments, use our Postal System as their Delivery Boy (causing tremendous loss to the U.S.), and are putting many thousands of retailers out of business!

What a damn retard.

Translation.. Trump doesn't like Amazon because the CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post a few years back. The Washington Post outs Trump for being a idiot almost daily. Trump is attacking Amazon in attempt to intimidate Bezos..

states are giving "incentives" = huge tax breaks to anybody who opens up a business and companies are grabbing every opportunity they get to take advantage of this...

If you are going to link to an article, you might want to read more of it than just the title.

This isn't a sweetheart deal for Amazon, but applies to anybody shipping via USPS. If the USPS raised their rates they would be effectively shooting themselves in the foot as they would be sacrificing their competitive pricing over to FedEx, UPS, and DHL. And then what? Small and big businesses would have no choice but to pay more for shipping and who's going to pay for it in the end? The consumer.

Trump is just calling out Amazon because Bezo's is a better businessman.

Dear stupidest person on GFY,

They do not receive tax money for items shipped, this shows just how stupid you are. Amazon gets a discount because they are a high volume shipper. Just as every high volume shipper gets.

From your own article that you failed to digest:

Sandbulte cites an April analysis by Citigroup that put a price tag on the resulting distortion. If package delivery bore its fair share of Postal Service system costs, each box would cost $1.46 more to deliver. That “subsidy” is systemwide.

Additionally, USPS’s legal duty to provide universal service means that even at a discount, shipping boxes for Amazon helps it generate revenue from potentially unused capacity. Fixed costs aside, USPS package delivery is profitable, helping subsidize rural service and letter delivery. So there’s room for disagreement about whether the situation is actually unjust.

Please try to get your little brain to understand. I quoted your message saying that "he is getting $1.46 of tax money for every package"

That is false. There is no tax money going into the USPS, by law.

As far as being a "subsidy", from the fortune article you posted:

Amazon Getting Huge Subsidy from US Postal Service: Analylst | Fortune

Quote:

But Sandbulte’s investment firm holds FedEx stock, meaning he has a direct interest in critiquing the USPS, and his analysis is debatable on several points. He disingenuously describes the pricing situation as “a gift card from Uncle Sam,” which implies there’s tax money involved. But the USPS doesn’t receive tax revenues.

That also does not mention the huge investment that Amazon has made in infrastructure that allows it to do the pre-sorting and other associated mailing tasks that would normally fall on the Post Office. An Amazon distribution center is essentially a Post Office of it's own.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that the Post Office actually makes more money off an Amazon package than it does on other packages.

Now, let's discuss the Post Office doing China and International mail at a loss and therefore injuring small United States businesses because that is actually happening and you aren't hearing a peep out of our fearless leader about it.

Quote:

Either way, Amazon is hardly alone in getting a boost from the USPS’s complex pricing. Thanks to international agreements through the United Nations, international shippers—especially those sending small packages from China—often get services at substantially below cost. That puts U.S. stores and domestic online sellers alike at a persistent disadvantage.

So if they run at a loss and taxpayers don't fund them, how is the USPS sustainable?

You're referring to a tax loophole that was put in place by the Clintons. They used it first to avoid taxes. Trump did nothing illegal. He's also not required to release his old tax forms. But some of them were leaked- don't you watch Rachel Maddow??

The USPS had a choice -- give a discount or lose millions in revenue to competition. The postal service gives discounts for volume business. Amazon ships mostly through package-delivery companies due to free tracking, reliable service and low rates. UPS gives a 60% discount to Amazon last I heard. They are literally keeping these delivery companies in business and keeping our rates from going up too much.

I thought our taxes funded the USPS because the workers are paid by the government. I'm surprised to learn otherwise. I'd think Amazon would use the USPS much more if the tracking were free as well as insurance. They need to work out a deal where both parties win. The post office needs to implement better and easier methods of adding tracking and insurance as those forms are a pain to fill out by hand. Make it simpler for us and business to add those in and business would grow.

Trump doesn't like Bezos as he's jealous Bezos isn't bankrupt and seemingly is well-liked. He wants to be top dog in the business world but others are higher up the ladder.

Next he'll go after Bill Gates
