Trump signed The Cloud Act into law, warrantless data searches worlwide legal now

#ThanksTrump

How do you think this will, or could, impact your business?

Here's what the new law allows now:

1) Enable foreign police to collect and wiretap people's communications from U.S. companies, without obtaining a U.S. warrant.

2) Allow foreign nations to demand personal data stored in the United States, without prior review by a judge.

3) Allow the U.S. president to enter "executive agreements" that empower police in foreign nations that have weaker privacy laws than the United States to seize data in the United States while ignoring U.S. privacy laws.

4) Allow foreign police to collect someone's data without notifying them about it.

5) Empower U.S. police to grab any data, regardless if it's a U.S. person's or not, no matter where it is stored

The CLOUD Act and Google: How it affects your data

Does the CLOUD act make it easier for foreign nations to access my U.S.-based data?

Yes. The CLOUD act removes many of the obstacles currently in place when another country wants your data stored on a Google server inside the United States. This is where civil rights organizations and Google disagree on the merits of the law.

Because of how any data requests must go through the court system, then be subject to appeal or approval from a higher court, countries are forming their own laws that try and force companies like Google to hand over data without any court involvement if the company wants to do business there out of frustration with the process.

The U.S. also tries to claim that U.S. law requires a U.S. company to hand over data even when it's hosted outside the country like we're seeing in the Microsoft case presented to the Supreme Court.

We have fewer freedoms now thanks to Trump signing this into law.

And you support this, amazing.

Think of all the things in your email records that someone could learn about you, and twist, to use against you as leverage to do what they demand. Your daughter, financial data, sabatoging for blackmailing your business partners.

Yes I posted about this last week. It was hidden inside the "must sign" budget deal..

Onwebcam was 100% in support of it...

I'm starting to believe that the reason Republicans have refused to do yearly budget deals and instead force us into these never ending appropriation bills is because they use the spending bills to push through this kind of Orwellian shit.

GOP/ Republican party wants to create a police state so they can stop people from exercising their right to protest. I mentioned a few days ago how both FL and GA have installed camera for hundreds of miles along major interstates. I just drove down i75 yesterday in FL and construction crews are busy adding new cameras down i75 about every 2 miles..

Even GFY Trump supporters, excluding the trolls of course, must be upset about this.

I wonder what this means for groups like Cambridge Analytica?

These are really scary times.

pimpmaster9000 04-03-2018 09:43 AM

freedom and democracy are slowly dying because of shit like this...

Bladewire 04-03-2018 09:47 AM

How long before we find out that Trump gave Putin access to Google emails to get dirt on his opponents using this law?

The 25 rebulicans and the 39 democrats in the senate that voted yes for this should be voted out.

The 256 democrats and the 145 republicans in the house that voted yes on this should be voted out.

But in reality we all know that this gonna happen lol just another day in Washington...

beerptrol 04-03-2018 09:57 AM

The first warrantless search against Trump and he will get rid of it and/or have a fit about the deep state.
