6 min. video...took longer than the embalming?

Mr Pheer 04-08-2018 05:18 PM

In the US, embalming is done with a pump through a long, large diameter needle inserted directly into the heart. Embalming fluid doesnt come in an IV drip bag here. I dont think this could have happened in a 1st world country.

Wow you're right I had to research that crazy

I read the short version online earlier today. Probably happens more than we know around the world.

My people are from Russia and I know my great-grandfather was a doctor there. I’m sure he would have stories if he were alive.

In the USA you hear of the wrong limb being removed. When my mom had her second breast cancer she needed a radical mastectomy. In bright red lipstick I wrote on her right breast REMOVE THIS ONE and on the left one wrote NOT THIS ONE. I drew arrows, too

The nurses laughed but the doctor was annoyed it caused a ten-minute cleansing. He bitched at mom and she said, “look, doc, a lot of medical errors are made each day. It’s bad enough I have cancer again, bad enough you’re cutting off my breast, but i want assurance you’re cutting off the right one. My daughter helped me be assured. If ten minutes inconvenienced you but spared me extra surgery, then reconstruction, so be it. No one said life would be easy.”

He billed us $15k instead of $12k for the surgery. Blue Cross refused to pay it all and wanted us to pay $3k. The hospital threatened court and my dad said “sue me. I’ll be sure to notify the media that you want three grand for ten minutes of insurance so my wife doesn’t suffer from your error.”

The next bill had a balance of $0!

I hope we can be updated on the husband’s legal action or settlement.

It isn't just lack of insurance. Lack of intelligence is a huge factor. If you have a cough for months on end, don't ignore it and think it's a bad cold.

Fear is a factor. I know this from personal experience.

That article is a generalization of assumption, not fact. People claim Canadian healthcare is free and awesome. I dated a guy from Canada who told me that it's free BUT you can wait months to get an appointment to see a doctor. I'd rather go to an ER, plead indigent status, and get free healthcare right away.

IN a public hospital, the ER can't reject you due to lack of money. States and government allot funds for poor folks to get medical treatment. I learned that as a kid at the ER, when drunks and druggies and gunshot victims showed up with no insurance.

Public hospital ERs can't reject patients due to lack of insurance. People don't go to the doctor as they're often too dumb to realize they are sick. Months spent coughing isn't a bad cold but not all know that.

Free healthcare sounds great until you deal with months-long waits to see a doctor.

that is a tired old myth... unless you are 500 hundred pounds or 85 years old and need non urgent knee surgery most procedures are pretty timely. So is the term 'free healthcare'. Nobody has free healthcare. it is paid through taxes.

Do you believe everything you see on TV or the Internet?

What a silly question. Of course you do.

Ten years ago I was with the guy so the myth isn’t that old. He needed surgery for a minor issue, was 28 (yes I’m a cougar!) and skinny. He had to wait fourteen weeks to see a doctor. Surgery was scheduled for ten weeks forward. He had medications until then.

His taxes were higher but not nearly as high as you’d expect. But free healthcare is what you get. If you don’t pay taxes and have a heart attack, do they bill you?!
