Recent Google Serp madness

What has been going on with Google recently? I had an explosion of traffic for wordpress tags during a brief period before Easter, and now almost as suddenly my Google traffic is worse than ever before.

My most frequently updated quality site is getting more Google traffic, which is great and how it should be, but I'm getting almost nothing for any other site, apart from a couple that I've barely updated for years.

Do others agree that the 'private blog network' model is now officially dead?

Klen 04-11-2018 03:24 AM

Same here, got a surge during update, now is worse then ever.

kuprum 04-11-2018 05:25 AM

Google wants to force us buy paid advertising....

Cyber Fucker 04-11-2018 05:31 AM

Google results are fucked up now, other search engines seem now to be a better option for basic search.
As for our sites serps, sadly, it is what it is, we are too much dependant on Google traffic, cause Google monopolized search engine market.

Serp is fluctuating too much but it seems that porn is back and every one is getting benefited from it. One day one site is up other day its gone and 2nd up.. so one goes one comes up and there is not fix available yet after their core algo update back in March.... so keep watching its a game of patience....

hard work and patience will paid off.

Mainstream forums complain about big influx of amazon and youtube results diluting their serps. I don't see amazon but I did notice some awkward youtube results for "borderline" porn queries.

Funnily enough, it's not big youtube channels that pop in, it's stupid shit with keywords in the title, without comments, without description and with barely any views.

Which means that youtube got it's seo score manually boosted and it's able to jump ahead many sites that actually have backlinks and such for the searched term :)

Google is still mixing

Probably because Google owns YouTube. :D

Yeah, I kinda connected the dots on that one too :P

But it's funny how they shit on their own public statements. Every mainstream webmaster will call a tube video page as thin content, even when it's with rich description, tags, unique title etc...

Yet, a "thin content" youtube page, with just a video, two word title and NOTHING else - goes straight to top 10 for it's main (and only) keyword :)

This is the #1 problem with Google (or really any giant corporation on the Internet). No one is held liable, sites do what is best for THEM and fuck everyone else, use their monopoly to help themselves, etc.

The "little guy" (which includes some major companies) is left to bob and weave, zig and zag, adapt or die....:(

I keep saying this and people just dont catch on. Social and YT and the PornTubes all have the traffic because of:

TIME ON SITE! that's what G is giving the weight to the searches for.

PornDiscounts-V 04-11-2018 12:06 PM

Lots of movement. Most of it good. As for private blog networks, they are good for promotion, not for making a living on sales from the network.

Yeah, user behavior is definitely a metric these days, but it's plain insane if it's a sitewide metric with such a BIG impact.

Thousands of people let a youtube playlist play for hours and hours, so lets reward youtube for "time on site" and serve it as answer for any query with any remotely related video.

Also...
I'm checking "pornhub year in review 2017"
pornhub - average time on site 10 min
my site - around 5 mins

pornhub didn't disclose bounce rate in the review, but mine is around 38%

Overall, I find my stats decent enough... yet, I'm down in the gutter.

What I find even MORE worrying - google is doing all kinds of tweaks and adjustments, yet they do ZERO shit when it comes to rewarding authorship and originality. One big russian tube stole a shitload of my videos (and my identical titles and descriptions), like.. 5 years after I initially published them. Guess what? They rank for exact title query - THAT is the main problem, IMHO

If you didn't see a boost in traffic from the last update your site has serious quality issues. I saw massive increases on sites where I did major quality improvements.

> time on site
> UX barriers
> thin content
> scraped content
> doorway pages

bloggerz 04-11-2018 01:21 PM

Google is still dancing and hopefully this new update settles soon because it's causing some weird data :2 cents:

I have bounce rate 60%, is that too little ?

bgmen 04-11-2018 01:42 PM

Looks like a new update is starting.. Let's see what happens next.

Mr Pheer 04-11-2018 05:24 PM

I'm loving this shit. Having a record day here.

The Porn Nerd 04-11-2018 06:50 PM

Nice timing too, right before Tax Day.

Thanks Big G! :(

GAMEFINEST 04-11-2018 07:11 PM

I have seen YT coming up heavily in results as well, Google is pushing its own site primarily

The biggest winner on a very profitable keyword I track is a one page site with an "ENTER HERE" cloaked redirect link and some gibberish written below :2 cents:

Yep, lots of crappy and spammy sites in the SERPs.

It is always good to have your website as better as possible.

What troubles me personally is finding results like this (random pull, second page, "sex videos" query): Go Sex Videos - xVideos, XXX Porn Tube, Pussy & Ass Fuck

That site apparently got 14000 google love (according to semrush) and do a few clicks on it and figure out on your own how user metrics look on it. I'd say bounce rate is 70% and time spent maybe less than 1 minute.

How the fuck can shit like this rank, with all the smart AI stuff going on?

(sorry to the owner if it's someone from gfy, had to show the bad example)

SIK 04-12-2018 09:07 AM

and another example from top 15, for a small keyword I used to rank on first page for (now nowhere)

Spy Cam Family Porn & Free Family Voyeur Videos

Yep, you loaded it right, page got NO CONTENT for the category it's ranking. Just an auto-generated text on top (they got same text for all categories).

(once again, sorry to the owner if he posts here...)

That means 60% of your users leave without visiting another page which is bad, should be around 20% or so.

I dunno why some circle jerk sites still rank. 14k semrush is probably really only 4k or so in reality which isn't that much.
