Well big fucking whoop! I mean, if you somehow decide you need that you have to have your toothbrush connected to the internet, then you should expect its going to be reporting to someone!

Personally it wouldn't bother me at all. Not cause of privacy issues, but if I had an internet connected toothbrush monitoring how often I clean my teeth, it would never have any info to send !

I love tech but haven't fully adopted all of the smart home gadgets yet but I'm getting there. I have smart lights, Smart Phone (of course), Smart TV's, Smart Security Cams, Smart HVAC, etc. I have yet to try an Amazon Echo or Google Home, but might soon.

I read a story this morning where someone had set up a completely automated home and one day everything just failed.... It turns out a single light bulb failed, and was constantly sending a message to the main hub telling the system it had failed.... The freaking light bulb was doing a DOS attack on the house.

Yeah, when you work with the tech you can tell it's in the early stages.
