“universal basic income”

this moist* likely be the way to go, BUT what do you do about 'basic universal health care'? there is a very clear line between basic income and driving a Roller... with health care not so much... for instance you get a freebie kidney swap but not a heart??

be interesting to see how it goes...

Without a mind being stressed about making money for food & shelter, that mind has time to create & invent amazing things

... or just to do nothing??

It wont work , first because it gives you only 50% of minimum wage which is not enough to cover basic life cost, second because it is too big impact on country budget. However, i did find solution to that problem which does not involve universal basic income method nor it does not involve country and it's above 50% of minimum wage.

beats me... minim living where I'm at would probably be around 3k per month for rent, food, utilities and some walk around cash. then a job on top of that you would be doing okay.

if that seems like a high number add up the benefits being received per month by a welfare family these days. I have no idea what the number is however I would be interested in knowing.

Eventually, we will likely get to something like this. I don't see it happening any time soon though. At some point, automation and robots will take away pretty much every non-skilled job out there and we will be in a time where there simply aren't enough jobs for everyone. When that happens we will have large swaths of the population with no way to support themselves. A universal basic income will at least give them enough to exist on. If we don't do that I could see crime skyrocketing.

Yes that is one of problems of it, even now many jobs are unfilled because of "toolow" salary or being too hard, most of people dreaming about being CEO or doing some simple yet well paid job. One of the curses of modern era.

Haha funny. But seriously, look at the countries that are the most innovative, they pretty much have a basic income already, Norway, Holland, Sweden some of the countries rated happiest on earth too, even though they have shithole weather.

Dunno what everyone's complaining about... I'd be quite happy having the same income as these guys... :2 cents:

As I said, right now it's not the issue, but give it 20 or 30 years.

Couldn't be any worse then massive tax cuts for the rich. They hoard that money

Most of any universal income would be used to pay bills, buy food, buy weed, and buy other goods and services. Which helps the economy

Go into a Walmart and ask the employees(many of whom get some kind of government aid) if they could afford to stop working if given universal income

There are many working poor out there who get some sort of help or are just above the poverty level to get any help.

After seeing how many trillions we piss away on corporations and the wealthy in hope of trickle down economics, maybe we should try something different that actually puts money in the working man's pockets. Chump's tax cuts does nothing for the working man.

It's not in human nature to do nothing but I can do a lot of useless things ... :stoned

pimpmaster9000 04-19-2018 01:55 AM

our best and brightest minds are working on taking away jobs from the low skilled...it is being called progress and innovation...on the other side our capital is being diluted and allocated to the rich...money is being printed out of thin air and poured in to speculative real estate investment and not in to creating new jobs...

everything possible is being done to make the rich richer...and the poor and middle class are applauding it...everybody is hoping to get some of that exploitation pie...

do your parents still work? are they lucky enough to have pensions? I hope so, because if not and they were not lucky enough to buy a home in a well sought out market they can't afford to live on their own. Our generation for the most part do not have pensions. Unless we are financially able to consistently invest in our retirements (which is a very small number unfortunately) then this will only get a LOT worse...

old verbiage needs to die...

At some point? this has already happened... Until your country decides to turn the faucet on for it's infrastructure the jobs market shrinks daily all over. Not because of immigration but through automation and companies moving off shore to curb costs.
