Pig Brains
Are we all gonna be brains in jars one day?
Researchers in the US say they have managed to keep the brains of decapitated pigs alive outside of the body for up to 36 hours by circulating an oxygen-rich fluid through the organs. How awful ! Imagine your living brain locked in a jar and constantly reviving the same souvenirs for eternity ... :helpme

I don't mind being finite so . . .

This idea has always spooked me. With the right hardware, chemicals, pumps, nutrients etc, they could probably keep a brain alive indefinitely.
Imagine what it would be like. You might be conscience, but you couldn't see or hear anything, or feel anything either. You would feel completely alone, and wouldn't know dreams from reality. You would just be endlessly confused unless they also manage to connect some i/o devices that would let you communicate. When I first saw this scene in Robocop 2, it freaked me the fuck out: It scared the fuck out of me and left me with cold chills. The effects are top-notch of course, but the IDEA of it was really upsetting. Love it. :D |
What makes this particularly scary, is how research was being done on using pigs to grow human organs. They were basically blasting human stem cells into pig embryos, and then crossing their fingers and hoping something useful was being produced. Now imagine if the stem cell ended up in the right place to become a brain.

Hell yes!!! twice the work could be completed...one sleeps the other works :2 cents: |
Next comes secret deals with funeral homes. Who'd ever know? Even if a kept-alive brain was found by authorities, how could they realistically determine who's brain it is? All brains look the same (and I know that's brainist). Would it be ok to destroy one of these kept-alive brains?
Allow me to be the first one in the world to advocate for kept-alive brain rights, and the rights of kept-alive brains to not be squished. They'd need to come up with a way to interface kept-alive brains with smart phones, so these deceased people can telepathically send text messages to their families. "Hey honey, I'm alive but I'm just a brain now. Do you still want me?" And this Dr. Who episode comes to... mind.... https://youtu.be/lNeARJHt9P0 |
If a brain alone could have orgasms, I would eventually defend the case ... :stoned

But what about getting cloned bodies, made by youw own DNA. Still, isn't the brain one of the first things being affected by age? I mean, just look at the threads on GFY and how much more stupidity os there every year
