I loved being a boy scout good times when I was a kid going camping with other boys my age and making some lifelong friends and learning lots of survival skills. I can't see having those same experiences with girls along for the ride that's what the Cub Scouts program is for , boys and girls.

Boyscouts was about male bonding with peers, now that's gone. Girl scouts will remain girls only. WTF? Sad

The Boy Scouts of America, or BSA, announced last fall that it would begin allowing girls to become Scouts — much to the frustration of the Girl Scouts, which has advocated for single-gender scouting.

The rebranding of the Boy Scouts program is paired with a new ad campaign — "Scout Me In" — designed to appeal to both boys and girls.

"As we enter a new era for our organization, it is important that all youth can see themselves in Scouting in every way possible," Boy Scouts of America chief executive Michael Surbaugh said in a statement. "That is why it is important that the name for our Scouting program for older youth remain consistent with the single name approach used for the Cub Scouts."

I was not a boy scout.... But I have a handful of adult friends who have been in the Boy Scouts for decades and they are pissed off about this. According to them the Boy Scouts are for boys, and the Girl Scouts are for girls. I guess... They want the Boy Scouts to teach about the joys of camping and making camp fires and these same people want the Girl Scouts to teach about sewing.

Does this mean boys can join the Girl Scouts now?

The Girl Scouts of the USA actively disagreed with the decision and the tactics used by the Boy Scouts of America to make their organization co-ed. The official position of the Girl Scouts is that designated single-gender programs benefit girls more than co-ed ones and that a rushed process of inclusion will only result in girls being sidelined and marginalized within the organization. Hannan called it “short-sighted” to presume “that running a program specifically tailored to boys can simply be translated to girls.”

I look at it this way.... When I was growing up as a kid, some girls were considered "tomboys". This was accepted. Some girls want to be more like boys than others - and vice versa. It's not up to society to decide such things.

One of my friends has a son who turned 18 and... Decided he wanted to be a girl so... He became a girl.

I remember they used to have Explorer Scouts when I was in boy scouts. Had both boys and girls. There weren't very many of them.

When I was a kids, I loved the ladies, But didn't know how to act around them. I seemed to always have a hard on. This could be bad.
