What do you mean it had nothing to with Trump? He worked with the Trump Campaign, working with Rick Gates and Paul Manafort while he was working with an international law firm. He lied to the FBI during the Mueller investigation, and intentionally hid documents from them. He attempted to cover up crimes Gates and Manafort took part in.

This has everything to do with Trump and the Trump campaign.

For all intents and purposes if he hadn't lied to the FBI he'd be a free man.

If you saying he's connected to the Trump team, and there's a crime, either he had nothing to do with it or there's no crime because all they could get him on was.. Lying to the FBI

Now he's in jail for a year and loses his law license.

All you can really conclude is they had nothing on him, and he had nothing to offer back.

He got 30 days and a 20k fine, yet he had potential charges of a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

To me Van der Zwaan should be in this up to his eyeballs, but a judge who had the all the facts, gave him the min sentence possible.... Slap on the wrist don't lie to the FBI.

You can also conclude that the cover story is he had nothing and lied to the FBI but the real story is he flipped and he led them to Cohen's corrupt dealings that were just finding out about but Mueller has had for 6 months.

I think we can both agree that the next few decades are going to be filled with surprises that none of us had any idea of what was actually going on and who knew what when. Sucks

And then read the goddamn indictment, would you? Search for the word Trump. Look at the dates. This has nothing to do with him at this point. Prove your case.

For all we know the FBI charged him right away with the lying, so he couldn't run back to Russia.

There could still be more charges coming for him once the investigation findings are made public.
