If a guy tells you he is benching 315 for reps of 10 flat and incline

I mean i get that there are guys doing it, but usually they have a workout channel or are fuckin massively roided out.

I can push 315 for 1 or 2...but 10 reps? and incline?

damn

What are people doing here?

My normal workout has me on 5th set doing 3 reps or so at 120--130.....rare days i attempt 140kgs. I have no interest in it until i can do at least 5.

IS anyone pushing that kind of weight? be honest

slapass 05-15-2018 06:38 AM

I recently did 6 pull-ups and was all impressed with myself. I am not at your level.

CjTheFish 05-15-2018 06:46 AM

Eh I'll stick to beer and cigarettes and leave all the weight lifting to the young guys

I can also do 6 pull ups...pull ups are fuckin hard...i dmaaged my forearm trying to do them too much before. Now i only do say 5 then another 5 then another 5.

I am 103 kgs...so doing a pullup means i am lifting a lot and i am not a the level where i can yet. I am trying, both to increase the wieght i can lift like that and as well, to lose some kgs

95 kgs would have me fairly ripped

300lb for 1 rep incline is not bad at all...I stopped chasing weights and never do anything over 220 these days and I go for high reps instead...you get more hurt than gains if you chase the weights...

I have this friend who has this condition with myostatin, he has a lack of it and his muscular development is freaky to say the least...he easily does 660 lb benches for 1-2 reps but he is all fucked up...his blood pressure is a joke, he can eat 20 hamburgers and he has trouble with his ligaments and tendons not being fully adapted to his sheer brawn...when you shake hands with him it feels like he will crush your fingers...he is not on anything and I do not think he will live past 30...

1 rep sure..but 10-12.
normal sized guy
i think it is bullshit myself.
i think the same way...rather increase reps now versus pushing more

anything over 3 plates for reps is roids...

balint 05-15-2018 07:33 AM

12 in 50kg
10 in 60kg
8 in 70 kg
4-6 in 80kg

I can do this for now, I'm 83kg

this is standard and good...most never reach 100 kgs and go over it.

So when a guy is bragging to me about doing 10-12 at 140kgs both flat and incline...and doesnt look like a roid case...i have to question it.

I mean there are guys doing it im sure...but they are probably olympic wrestlers, or fuckin top tier college athletes.

There is a fuck ton of difference between pushing 80 kgs and 100 kgs...and more going from 100 to 140 kgs...then there is another factor..it is one thing to do 1-3 at that level.
It is quite another thing to be doing 10-12 reps of it.

AS crucifissio...IF they are actually doing it... ROIDS

however i think they are not doing it..and just fuckin lying..lol

I'm not and never was on roids, I'm just a big guy ( 193 cm / 112 kg )

here is a fun video from 2016, 1x 150 kg after a LOOONG break from doing serious heavy workouts - http://vlaic.net/150.mp4

QUICK EDIT:
now, with disc hernia going on, I wonder if I'll ever get back to old glory super stronk days... bleh

nah, don't have it, no need to believe me if you don't want to :)
this one was more like a proof to friends that I still can do it

I'm just saying, 140kg x 10 is NOT "steroid level", not by a long shot

that's bullshit...

at my peak i was doing sets at 360 at 4-6 reps and was climbing. I was aiming for maxing out at 405 but had some issues with my rotator cuff so had to step back. Never on anything more than whey protein and a LOT of food. It was a lot of whey but other than that I was clean. You can inch your way up if you do it right and work other muscle groups properly.

These days I don't push it too much as it interferes with other sports I play so I don't get sets at much over 270.

edit: oh for incline i didn't get much over 260, less with reps.. always found that one a lot tougher. decline or reverse grip flat i could do a lot more though.

incline for 10 reps/ 3 plates per side is rarely natural...there are some naturally strong people but if you see a guy in the gym pushing this kind of weight it is very very rare for him to be natural...

flat benches are murder on the joints...murder...I have never attempted my 1 rep max because the pain would stop me...

dyna mo 05-15-2018 09:15 AM

I call it gym jibber jabber.

pornguy 05-15-2018 09:16 AM

My workout bench is 145 pounds on both. 4 sets of 10. Im staying in shape not trying to get huge.

i get that some guys can bang out 140 or more on flat....the incline is the part that makes me say no way

flat bench is as natural as it gets... also a reason why its a staple when it comes to overall measurements for sports drafting. if it hurts when you are doing it you are most likely doing it wrong. I'm definitely not naturally strong or big, i just trained hard and often. These days i just train for performance.

Im shoulder dominant and can incline significantly more than I can flat bench. It all depends on your bio-mechanics. Whats easy for you may be hard for me and vice versa
