Are adult forum video mega threads legal??
 

Good morning!

Quick question for any knowledgeable on this topic.

I've recently started an adult forum as a new side project and had a few transplants from other adult forums join and start posting. I created a category for them to post their "mega threads" as I have seen from these other forums they tend to be extremely popular.

Most of the top 20 adult forums have these types of forums available for posters.

The posters generally compile a gallery hosted through image twist, and then post various links to download the video they share. Usually a file joker or rapid gator link.

Obviously they make money when someone clicks the gallery or initiates a download. But is this illegal and in violation of the video owners copyright? Are the majority of these posters copyright owners?? Or...how does it work exactly?

Lets say I download a video from pornhub and upload it to rapid gator and then embed the video in a post on my forum and offer the download link through rapid gator. Is this illegal?

It seems phishy and I don't want my forum to be associated with any illegal activity, however the popularity of this practice seems massive. Like I said the top xxx forums on the web seem to be explicitly built exactly for THIS reason.

Any thoughts?

So if it's illegal how and why is it done at such a rampant rate on sites like pornbb, intporn, planetsuzy etc?

There are literally millions of posts and some of these sites rank within the top 5000 sites in the world.

I find it hard to believe content owners are not aware of this practice?

I'm not defending it, I'm not a fan of it anyway it looks like spam on my forum but I'm just trying to figure out how it works and why its acceptable for curiosities sake. I would not be okay with this as a content owner.

You upload stolen video on Xvideos, it gets striked down. You upload a few pics and a link to download that you profit from on a forum and nothing happens.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around why nothing gets done about it.

You can't possibly think I am trying to promote this??? I've only learned about these "mega threads" from the 3 people who joined and started posting them on my site. I have no interest in the promotion of stolen content. Anyone with a brain would see I'm trying to learn more about this so that I can put a stop to it from happening and being shared on my website.

These forums have been online for 10+ years and you have just discovered them? The battle with file lockers is a well known story.

That's why I said he's here trying to promote them. The DMCA company I use has had all those forms on their list for years and weekly I have videos links & images taken down from them.
