"A Republican candidate for state legislature in Nevada is being held in the South Tower of the Clark County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bail after being arrested on nine charges, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Michael Lee McDonald, 34, allegedly forged a letter from his therapist, adding a sentence declaring he is not a threat to himself or his children."

A Metropolitan Police Department investigation found the letter “was scanned into a computer and the typed word, date and signature was added over the existing entries on the sheet by a computer software program.”

The arrest report notes the added sentence was at an angle to the rest of the text and appeared in a different font size.

McDonald also allegedly lied about having no income when he was employed with an annual salary of $47,500.

All of the charges were linked to a family court dispute.

On his campaign website, McDonald labels himself a “family law reformer” and a “loving father of two amazing kids.”

The GOP candidate also refers to his own parents’ divorce.

“His parents went through a bad divorce when he was 5. His Mother then took him and his two brothers to live on an 80 Acre farm in Missouri,” his campaign website reads. “He only saw his dad a handful of times and it caused much hurt in him and passion to help get the family laws changed!”

“If elected Michael Will do his best to help enact laws for family and criminal law reform especially for equal parenting!” his campaign pledged. “Also, other issues affecting Nevada.”
