i noticed a big difference between the two
1 namesilo turns off domains at midnight. namecheap does not
2. namecheap does not offer all domain privacy namesilo does

Paul&John 05-29-2018 01:57 PM

I guess thus has something to do with gdpr

bloggerz 05-29-2018 02:04 PM

hausarzt 05-29-2018 02:20 PM

Damn. I recently renewed a domain plus whkisguard. Now I am broke a fuck.

adultchatpay 05-29-2018 06:53 PM

I got the email too, lot of savings if you have over 100+ domains.

MrBottomTooth 05-29-2018 07:00 PM

I had about 10 to renew this month. Glad I waited until today to do it.

Check Whois, your info should be hidden anyway.

only reason :

from Sedo :

Hello ,
On May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation will take effect. This means the WHOIS will “disappear”. In the new public record system, personal data will no longer be visible either to individuals or Sedo. So far we were able to verify from the WHOIS records that you are the legitimate owner of the domains you listed for sale. This means it will be much harder for us to match your account data with the WHOIS information in order to clear your domains for sale on our site.

Name.com offers free private whois, use promocode "PRIVACYPLEASE"

dillfly2000 05-30-2018 08:54 PM

But I like the phone calls I get from solicitors in India pretending to be local. It's lonely here in Canada.

j3rkules 05-31-2018 12:22 AM

Now, I got the email as well. Now, that might be cool, but I would not be surprised if the prices would go up because of that.

That is not for public use, you shouldn’t share that. And also, they give free SSL with every whois now too.

1. namecheap is expensive.
2. they offered a paid whois
3. now offer free whois
4. Somewhere they will have to find a profit now!
5. namesilo.com and porkbun.com have offered free whois ever.
Sure, if you have less than 10 domains, it does not matter to you. at ~ 100? Only this year, I moved 12 domains from namecheap, there is still ~ 30.
