Fox News lied to you yet again

Quote:

Fox News apologized Tuesday after receiving a torrent of criticism over the network's use of photos of various players for the Philadelphia Eagles kneeling in prayer, creating the misleading impression that they were demonstrating during the national anthem.

The photos ran during a segment on Monday night, after President Trump announced that he had uninvited the reigning Super Bowl champions from a traditional visit to the White House.

As Fox News anchor Shannon Bream explained Trump's decision, which he attributed to the anthem protests that have roiled the league, photos of Eagles players kneeling in prayer were shown on screen.

One of the players pictured, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, forcefully denounced the network in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

"This can't be serious.... Praying before games with my teammates, well before the anthem, is being used for your propaganda?! Just sad, I feel like you guys should have to be better than this...," Ertz said.

https://i2.cdn.turner.com/money/dam/...et-780x439.jpg

Christopher Wallace, the executive producer of Bream's program, issued an apology for the error on Tuesday.

"During our report about President Trump canceling the Philadelphia Eagles trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win, we showed unrelated footage of players kneeling in prayer," Wallace said. "To clarify, no members of the team knelt in protest during the national anthem throughout regular or post-season last year. We apologize for the error."

The network's Twitter account also posted video of the segment, which was deleted after Fox issued its apology.

The network did air other segments showing players for other teams actually kneeling during the anthem. No one on the Eagles' 2017-18 regular season roster knelt during the anthem.

Other members of the pro-Trump media apparatus came in for criticism from members of the Eagles team that won Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots in February.

Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist and Fox News regular, had a back-and-forth with former Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith, now with the Carolina Panthers, after Kirk tweeted, "If you refuse to stand for the national anthem you have no business being honored at the White House or by our President."

After Smith pointed out that "no one on the Eagles took a knee last season," Kirk tweeted a photo of cornerback Ron Brooks kneeling during a preseason game last August. Brooks was later released by the team, and did not play for the Eagles in the regular season.

The flap marks another chapter in Trump's ongoing feud with the country's most popular sports league over the anthem demonstrations that began in 2016 with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

NFL owners approved a new policy governing the pregame ritual last month, requiring players to stand during the anthem if they are on the field. Trump offered tepid approval of the change, but insisted that all players should be on the sideline during the playing of the national anthem.

Fox News ripped for misleading photos of Philadelphia Eagles players kneeling

Fox News isn't really news at this point. It's just damn silly.

Bladewire 06-05-2018 11:26 AM

Propganda lies to fit the anti American anti football agenda. The alt right hates Americans & American culture.

To Trump supporters, yes

To normal people it's insulting and over the line for a POTUS

"Trump offered tepid approval of the change, but insisted that all players should be on the sideline during the playing of the national anthem."

But a fan can still go to the concession stand and buy over priced beer and snacks during the anthem and/or go take a piss!

MSNBC and CNN lie so much every single day that Fox News crushes them completely in the ratings. The best rated show on CNN loses to the worst rated show on Fox News.

Pretty funny when you have to keep saying "brainwashed" and "lies" etc etc etc to describe the cable news network of preference for almost all news junkies. It would seem to me that a reasonable person would stop and reflect on that. But then again, when "you're stupid", "you're brainwashed", "you're racist", "you're a xenophobe", "you're greedy and don't care" to explain the world around you when it doesn't align with your narrow and incredibly biased world views, that might be far too much to hope for.

You guys are literally like 8 year old mean girls.

Fox doesn't beat CNN and MSNBC because those two lie too much. They give their viewers what they want just like FOX does. The difference is that if you want your news with a liberal slant there are many places to get it. CNN, MSNBC and the major broadcast networks all have a liberal slant. If you want your news with a conservative slant there is only one place to get it. Also, the average age of a FOX News primetime viewer is 66-years-old. Elderly people tend to be more conservative and watch TV more than younger people.

Let's not pretend like FOX is the last bastion of truth and justice. They deliver the product they know their viewers want.

... just like Trump ... obsessed by ratings .... :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

So ratings are what determines the truth ..... makes sense, after all this is a Reality Presidency ....

Neither networks are lying so I'm not sure what you are talking about. Fox got it wrong then corrected themselves just like CNN or MSNBC would if they did. As for ratings, those numbers are all over the place for a reason. People are watching both to get amped up and hate on each others network. I would have thought you would have recognized that yourself.

I was referring to the hypocrisy of someone on the far left jumping at the opportunity to demonstrate the news source he hates more than anything (besides owning a real mans car), is "lying" when CNN and MSNBC have become unwatchable and receive no such criticism because .... "team sports". The obvious implication in the discussion being that this one news source which comes up every single day on here as "brainwashing" people is somehow less honest than the others, when thats clearly not the case.... and the one that is most watched cable news channel by all people and have been crushing the competition since,... forever.

I switched between CNN and FNC today as I ate lunch.
Jake Tapper's show was starting...his "headline"? Trump vs. The Philadelphia Eagles.

I switched over to FNC. Neil Cavuto's show was starting. They jumped right in on the latest news on the North Korean summit, after that story they moved to covering the primary races happening today around the country.
They went from reporter to reporter in each different area of the country.
Then they went to commercial. In that 10 minutes they covered a ton of stuff.
Switched back over to Jake Tapper on CNN...yep, just as I suspected. A "round table" of "experts" "discussing" the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Trump.

THAT is why CNN has no ratings. Has nothing to do with that "liberal" theory that people can get their "left leaning" news from several different places.
CNN just doesn't report any news that affects working men and women in this country.

They are nothing more than a talk show hosted by boring people with no personality discussing nonsensical bullshit that is irrelevant to people's lives.

Not to me, I don't waste my time with News on TV, I already waste enough time on LameBook and here..

Try not to change the subject or do a "whatabout". Even if they did, it shouldn't excuse what Fox did.

Acepimp 06-06-2018 01:11 PM

They didn't lie. They showed the wrong photo and then clarified it.

Anywayz, Here's some more fox fun

happens every day.... but but but but.. Fox News, muh Russia!

CNN has turned into sketch comedy but they get a pass because they attack Trump all day long.

You care so much about honesty,.... but somehow only see one side's errors. Weird how that happens.

If you watch cable news in general, you're pretty misinformed regardless of which network you watch. CNN blows. MSNBC blows. Fox blows really hard.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians also has good ratings. That doesn't make the shit they say true. Just means people like to watch it for whatever reason.

i tend to get my news from a variety of sources and then reach my own conclusions.

sources include FOX news, CNN, etc et al. drudge has a lot of solid links and they are no friends of trump. if it's an important story, I'll read as many different sources that i can to try and get a clear picture.

i don't watch cable news or broadcast news because I choose not to be force fed news stories.

I get the majority of my news from C-Span where you can hear and see the words coming directly from the source without going thru the biased spin of all of the commercial news media outlets about what was said or done. The spin of the commercial news media almost always distorts what was actually said or done to the point of it being unrecognizable.

nico-t 06-06-2018 02:46 PM

Lol... Fox News is shit. Just a shitty as CNN, MSNBC, washinton post, ny times... Funny you only seem to see that about Fox news though.

Cspan is solid and would be a nice addition to my news sources, it is time consuming though and only video as far as I know atm. I read the news, I'll have to see about streaming it, we cut the cable cord a long time ago.
