The Trump administration has utterly ridiculous. The system was working before without issue, and no one complained. They came in and changed the policy with the only intention of being jerks about it (holding someone in jail for weeks at tax payer expense only to sentence them to time served and a $10 fine). Then they blamed this on some old law which was completely false, and claimed they couldn't do anything about it without Congress passing a new law which was also false.

I said this before on GFY multiple times - we need to get them out of the country as quickly and economically as possible. This is just common sense.

This is simple. If someone is caught and suspected of being here illegally, they need to prove it or be arrested and detained. Then they have two options:
1) Admit they are here illegally, and quickly be deported to their home country. In the event they return to the United States it is now treated as a felony with mandatory jail time, minimum of one year (or longer).
2) If they refuse to admit they are here illegally, or believe there are special circumstances, they have the right to request a hearing with a judge. In this case, children would remain with their parents while in detention. Due to the Reno vs Flores Supreme Court decision, children would not be detained and would be sent back to their originating country and turned over to relatives there. Either way, in the event they are deported, it's a $1k fine.

As for the asylum bullshit... I'm sorry, but saying you are "not safe" in your home country because of gangs is not a proper reason for asylum. If this is the case, then everyone in half the countries in South America have the grounds for asylum which would never work.

This doesn't mean the investigation is sputtering out, it means we are getting closer to the end. This will be in two or three months, just in time.... You guessed it, the mid terms. Republicans will lose, and as short time later Trump will be impeached.

Local law enforcement cannot afford to cooperate with ICE. This should not be difficult to understand. ICE doesn't come to my hometown to hand out speeding tickets or respond to traffic accidents. It's not their job. If ICE had to respond to traffic accidents and medical calls in my city plus every other city in the country, they would be completely overwhelmed.

This is how law enforcement works. Local police handle local issues, federal agents handle issues involving federal law.

I live in a town of fifty thousand people. At any given moment we have two to four police officers on duty. Our police department is so small we cannot even hold someone; We have to bring them to the county lock up. My local police department does not have the manpower to handle immigration problems.

It's the same with larger cities. Larger cities with hundreds of thousands or millions of citizens cannot have 10% or 20% of their police officers handling immigration issues. This costs larger cities tens of millions of dollars.

I want such people arrested as quickly as possible and removed from our country. However, it is not up to our local police department to handle immigration issues. If our federal government wants do this locally, assigned ICE officers to work with local police departments. Assign two full time ICE agents to my hometown, and any time my local PD comes across someone who here is illegally they will detain them on the side of the road until ICE comes to arrest them. The reason why this doesn't happen is because it is just way too expensive.

I am also for a wall too - just not $24 billion worth. Identify the areas where there are the most crossings, and build walls in these areas. We should be talking about hundreds of millions of dollars, not twenty-five billion dollars.

We don't need celebrities running for President. No one should be jumping straight into the Oval Office without proper experience. At the very least Reagan was Governor.
