What Trump Should Have Told Germany About Russian Gas
https://www.politico.com/magazine/st...ian-gas-219000
on point article, including the criticism of the project, which i absolutely share i just have little hope that a voice of reason has a chance nowadays, it seems so much more fun being outraged and throw insults. |
I am not sure what the United States is supposed to do in regards to the German / Russian Gas pipeline connection.
Interesting how former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, chairman of Rosneft. Former chancellor Schroeder is a Putin agent. On top of that, Germany expects the United States to protect them from Russia. You do not see anything wrong with that picture ? It's nothing short of laughable. |

from the linked article: "the German market is the largest buyer of Gazprom’s exports, accounting for 27 percent of Gazprom’s European exports. The loss of customers in Germany would cripple both the company and Moscow’s budget." Gas on, gas off.. Putty be good. |

trump wants that Germany imports gas from USA - but the point is that not "Germany" is importing gas - those are the energy companies who buy on the world market. US gas is 20% more expensive than russian gas PLUS the pipleine would be even more expensive because 4 times longer. who would be such an idiot and buy expensive when they can buy cheap? I am pretty sure that Germany would buy the american gas if it is cheaper than the russian. but at the end we buy where we want - we also don´t tell the US where they have to buy their stuff. so fuck trump shall he breathe his gas. |

IMO voting these fucks out will not be enough because the ones who manage to stay or the new Republicans who get in will be even more radicalized. The entire Republican political party has gone bat shit crazy and needs to be removed from existence. None of these people who have allowed this to happen should be in any form of office or have any influence on a political party. They literally have multiple self proclaimed Nazi's running for various offices. Imagine if you had people in your country, openly running for office who support Nazis.. That's what we have in this country right now with the Republican party due to Trump. Trump has let all these closet freaks come out of the woodwork to feel emboldened. |

"Russia has cut off gas supplies to Ukraine in the past, and Europe is worried it could use energy as a weapon again in the future."
"European leaders are well aware that millions of homes would be without heating if Russia turns off the gas taps." it's very clear who has the advantage- putin. |

regardless, it's clear that germany buying gas from russia most certainly is not germany controlling russia and more likely the exact opposite. |

Trump speaks very precisely. Trump lies very precisely. Trump is out to make Putin look like a dominant world leader and make our allies look weak. Trump is doing this for himself. Wether it's because he's being blackmailed, or paid, or promised big deals, whatever the reason, this is his goal: Putin strong, allies weak |
"If Russia supplies 30% or 50%, either way there is no way Europe could get through a winter without that gas supply," said Trevor Sikorski, an analyst at Energy Aspects. "We are already dependent."
|
"Natural gas from Western Siberia remains indispensable for Europe, especially since the German nuclear phase-out - which the Russians comment on with glee. Renewable energies will remain marginal for a long time, albeit heavily subsidized."

What Trump said was what needed to be said.
1) You don't fulfill your NATO obligations 2) You send BILLIONS to Russia 3) You want protection FROM Russia 4) We pay much of your bill for you 5) To make everything worse, we have a $150,000,000,000.00 annual trade deficit with those same countries 6) So... it's time to square things up and cut the bullshit. This is not a new discussion. This is an old discussion. These things are said every fucking year by every sitting President. The difference is that FINALLY there is someone who will lay down the law and act, rather than use the experience for photo ops where nothing happens later and if anything, the situation worsens. It's downright comical to watch a desperate crowd being called out on their bullshit selfish behavior and then see the entire news cycle filled with arguments about fractions and percentages and "Germanys renewable energy" etc etc. rather than the actual points which were made. BEST OF ALL??? The Left NOW supports pipelines. Let's have a big round of applause for all the upcoming oil and gas development that will be happening because you finally saw the light and understand that energy needs are a necessity, not a luxury. Oh.... and let's not forget how long Germany waited to say anything at all about Russia invading the Ukraine. They only did it after intense pressure from the international community. So the other fake narrative about "Germany leading the way against sanctions against Russia" is also pure bullshit. Germany and their ex-Stasi leader and with all their RosNeft ties did nothing at all, said nothing at all for as long as possible. |
Hey look - Obama telling Germany to step up.
Imagine that And with Germany and Canadians pushing back... Wolfgang Schäuble, the German finance minister, said earlier this year increasing defence spending from 1.3 per cent could create misunderstandings with Russia. The Canadian government has also baulked at the rise from its current level of one per cent. https://www.ft.com/content/1bb6bd4a-...c-6e7d9515ad15 Russia plays geopolitical Gazprom game Gazprom has long been a key component of Russia's political setup—energy exports are the only real source of hard currency revenue for Russia. Stability in this big country, and therefore the political survival of the current political elite, depends mainly on a steady flow of cash that enables them to throw money at problems and buy the loyalty of crucial stakeholder groups, not least the military. Thus, the success of Gazprom's business model is a must for Putin and his team. Russia's Geopolitical Gazprom Blunder - Carnegie Europe - Carnegie Endowment for International Peace |
