I don't know shit.
After 10 years of having someone else act as my webmaster, I have come to the conclusion that I should have insisted that they show me how to do some of the basic stuff on my site.
Causing lots of headaches. I need someone fluent in [editing] Wordpress themes that doesn't mind showing a quick learner how to do some of this stuff. Not really sure the difference between plugins and widgets, for example. |
Bump for help :thumbsup

Why not just take the time to learn it yourself? There are endless lessons, guides, tutorials and help online, and almost all of it free.

LOL! And you called yourself a "quick learner" in your original post. It's going to take you more time to find someone and have then spoon-feed you information than looking it up yourself. Here let me help you.... Online Courses - Learn Anything, On Your Schedule | Udemy |

WP is easy when you don´t mind anything. do a standard setup and use all this unnecessary crap what just makes a lot of load and opens doors for hacking. as soon it become specific you find out that 99% of all this WP-specialists are exactly SUCH users as I mentioned. to find a real WP crack is fucking hard. and if you want to make a really smart CMS with WP (what is in fact possible) you will save time and money to program your own CMS system. what i can see in my daily job is that there are just few partners doing some acceptable money with WP sites but all of them wish that they would not have it. the really moneymakers forgot WP 10 years ago already and working with own solutions or at least others than WP what can be customized a lot easier. |

I DO know shit, butunfortatly, its a different kind of shit.
Baddog, I feel for yah. One of the reasons I stopped bothering with sites was because it all got a bit too complicated. WP was OK but these days everything seems to run of a script of some kind and and like you say, even WP has got complicated. It used to be about just using the software, but now you need to be able to alter it as well... Good luck though :thumbsup |

Many exploits are in the plugins. Make sure they’re very updated and maintained. So many aren’t maintained and either aren’t compatible with the current version or are exploitable.
I try to limit my plugins and get them written for me. I have a friend look through the code after I do, just to make sure it’s safe. You can get folks here to write plugins at great prices. Or, get a freebie you can edit and ask someone to add an option not there. They’ll check all the code, too. I’m doing that right now. Built a form online, saved it, and will send to a programmer. He’ll check code and add one line for me. $15 or so for security and what I need. I’m just finishing up in another window. I used to code but now it’s a foreign language to me. |
