Do Your Parents Know What You Do?

In a discussion about my former life, I was asked this. It made me curious about how people handle their adult profession with relatives.

CjTheFish 07-26-2018 07:01 PM

They have an inclination as to what I'm up to but no concrete reasoning to believe it is so.

It is what it is, money talks bullshit walks.

CaptainHowdy 07-26-2018 07:11 PM

I don't even know what am I doing . . .

Bladewire 07-26-2018 07:13 PM

All of my family has been dead for a long time, but for my son. He knew at an appropriate age. My son's mother died a few years ago, she knew since day one, she actually knew before I decided to start filming content. She was very supportive. I've been on television numerous times about working in adult. I came out when I was 17. I've never had issues being honest with people about who I am & what I do, when appropriate, about sexuality and/or profession, but I think it's something best reserved for the appropriate time, after first impressions settle in.

Well said, it is definitely something best discussed at the appropriate time. If I told my Fiance what I did for work on our first date she would have probably ran for the hills. Over time as she saw who I was past the work that I do she has become extremely supportive and if she comes out of the shower and see's a gaping asshole on my computer screen has no issues:thumbsup:thumbsup:2 cents:

Very smart. Otherwise, they form impressions about you or jump to conclusions. Most assume you’re into what you do and, if adult, go around fucking and sucking anything that moves. Or doesn’t move, if necrophilia is your niche. ;)

yuu.design 07-26-2018 07:39 PM

yeah, they know, and we never had problems about that

mikeet 07-26-2018 07:50 PM

My parents say they are too 'old' for the internet and still haven't quite figured out how to use it yet so no worries here :stoned

Rochard 07-26-2018 08:06 PM

Currently I don't work in "porn" but instead do "email marketing" for YNOT.

When I was full in the porn industry, my family knew. My mother was surprised at how much money I was making.

GAMEFINEST 07-26-2018 09:24 PM

They know, they don't trip.

Hustle baby

davidCRM 07-27-2018 12:04 AM

my job is mild (mostly seeing numbers and such), it's never been a secret that it's adult though. they're both cool with that, as long as it pays well.

Denny 07-27-2018 01:14 AM

Online marketing.

CurrentlySober 07-27-2018 01:41 AM

In my personal opinion, unless you ever meet with pornstars in person, shoot content, or work in a studio where you are within spitting distance of sexual acts taking place, then you are NOT in porn.

If the nearest you come to it as an image on a screen, then you do 'Internet Marketing'

Myself? Been a proud pornographer all my life, and parents knew everything. Never done anything else really since the early 80s

agreed :thumbsup

When I started to work in adult, one day my father came in and porn was open on both screens, he asked me what are you doing?
I told him, just working father.
I tried to explain the "business" part to them several times, but they still think I'm just watching pussies and dicks.
But the best one is my mother, when I shoot a pig joke during a family reunion, she always tells me: you should find another job. :1orglaugh

I prefer not to talk about working with people not related to the adult industry. This applies to friends and family too.

I have told my mom about my offline business and online tan center thats about it, not about the adult stuff
She's religious so i would not waist my time trying to explain all what i do. :1orglaugh

When I was younger and just starting out, they were concerned. They knew I was up to to something. LOL. Then the checks started rolling in.

That's when my father was first "proud" of me.

That's probably the same just about anywhere.

HairyChick 07-27-2018 07:25 PM

My mother said, “as long as you don’t deal with children or animals” and I got mad. “It’s a magazine about hairy women. I’m insulted you’d suggest that. You raised me better than that.” After apologizing profusely, she never said that again.

When she visited, she’d go to my main office where I had dildoes on the walls, other toys, a friend’s blown- up 15” cock pic, etc. She looked the other way. In my living room I had a 6’ blow up penis. She was curious and felt it and I said it was for “shock value.” She agreed.

Dad read my magazine and saw some sites but only said I did a great job on publishing. Mom said the same. Then she lamented I should have been a doctor or lawyer. When I was making more than they do, she was proud.

Other people I’d tell I had chat forums. I did but all adult.

Exactly. Friends are the worst. Get me a free account! Um, no.

pimpmaster9000 07-28-2018 04:35 AM

My parents are proud of my pimp work...every parent wants their sons to be pimps...

Sly 07-28-2018 07:47 AM

When I was more on the affiliate marketing side...

I was visiting my dad and going through checks on the kitchen table. I had one from Bang Bros sitting out. My dads wife happens to see it. "Oh your dad loves your sites!"

No problems with my parents but I don't speak about it to relatives.
Only a few close friends from the early days knows about it.
My 19 yo son knows about it from 2 years.
My 15 yo daughter suspects there's something as dad's computer is forbidden to them from their birth.

I get up at seven, yeah
And I go to work at nine
I got no time for livin'
Yes, I'm workin' all the time
It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess that's why they call me
They call me the workin' man
They call me the workin' man
I guess that's what I am
'Cause I get home at five o'clock
And I take myself out a ice, cold beer
Always seem to be wond'rin'
Why there's nothin' goin' down here
It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess that's why they call me
The workin' man
They call me the workin' man
I guess that's what I am
Well they call me the workin' man
