You Lost Your SEO traffic, for good

What's your typical next move with all that content you have?

Example
you had 10000k traffic daily, now reduced to 300 hits a day. You did nothing wrong. all clean links, etc. You had site up for 2 years.

femdomdestiny 07-27-2018 10:00 AM

CjTheFish 07-27-2018 10:07 AM

It is probably nothing from that, but the site is simply not meeting requirements from some of the latest algo updates.

You are not alone. Many big sites got hit with that Google update. Good luck in bringing it back to glorious days!

Lay SEO to rest and find something unrelated to do, preferably offline so you will never ever have to deal with and be dependent on that hellish monopoly.

PornDiscounts-V 07-28-2018 01:39 AM

Make 100 sites.

faxxaff 07-28-2018 07:22 AM

Start a new site. In most cases it is too hard to figure out which filters dragged you down.

Sly 07-28-2018 07:44 AM

This is certainly not the cause of your issue but you did add SSL to your site, right?

If not and you want to give it a shot, send me a PM and I'll walk you through it.

By regularly following SEO community and google webmaster blog and their announcements.

There were two important updates recently, first that HTTPS (yes, I've got an increase in traffic after implementing https), and the second important one was announced this month and it is impacting sites with low speed. This happened to me, so I am fixing it now and this is the reason why I am looking new theme but only taking care of google check tool.

So your site has no links ?

scorpian007 07-30-2018 11:39 AM

Happened to me in the past, check your backlink profile in GWT and if you find any bad links file a disvow.

WiredGuy 07-30-2018 03:36 PM

I go through this pretty often being in the SEO game for 20 years. First off, login to your google webmaster account to see if your being penalized for something (usually thin content). If so, make changes to fix the issue, get reconsidered. If there's no penalty on your account, then freshen up on your SEO. Get better backlinks, develop more content, etc.

Lastly, keep building, make new sites, interlink the old sites to the new sites and keep growing and adapting. Don't let the drop in traffic get to you. It's a cat and mouse game and Google just took back their traffic. One up their game and find a way to get it back and keep repeating.

Good luck.

There is some great advice in this thread. It's a breath of fresh air seeing the older community to drop their nuggets of advice. Some of my properties have been affected by the updates on those dates. Build and have more properties to mitigate the risk. Not all your properties will be affected by these updates, in fact, some will gain traction. The diversification in your properties will allow you to pinpoint what is working and what's not. Time like these can foster and promote innovation and creativity. Perhaps it's time to take a hard look at what you've been doing. You should be continually improving your sites regardless of what update has been released. Practice patience, your sites are not going to improve immediately. It could be a number of different changes you make that bring you out. It could be months before whatever changes you made bring you out of the filter that's been placed on your site. My best wishes.

Dropping to 300 hits a day like that sounds like an algorithmic penalty. Try to think back what you've changed in the last couple of months before it happened, it may be something technical. It may also be some bad links but I doubt it.

Sometimes you just can't figure out what the fuck Google is doing. I bet sometimes even Google themselves don't know. Last year my main money site started alternating between being #3 for its main keyword and top 10 for several others, to being nowhere for them. It would change every two or three weeks and always at the start of the weekend. I never did figure out why the fuck it was doing it, but come March and this update, that stopped and it gained traffic. I think the best way out of situations like this is to build authority which requires both strong links and quality content.

algorithmic penalty is not a drop of up to 300 a day, but drop the position of keywords down from page 3 of the search. Mainly 5-6 pages and beyond
