It's good they have been sent home, North Korea has been holding those remains in suitcases since 2011, adds to the 350 previously returned.

What amazes me here is how the general public responds to such actions.

North Korea is returning the remains of US soldiers and this is good news. Everyone is saying "Thanks Trump" and "Look at what Trump has accomplished". But this isn't the first time this has happened. This happened under Obama, but I am guessing the Republican base didn't get excited about it then.

Recently Trump had some good numbers for the economy. Trump had a 4.1% increase in GDP. Yet when Obama had a 5.3% increase during his term, the Republicans were shouting about how bad the economy was.

He did. They lied and sent animal remains.

This is my point. The Republicans drummed into their Republican base that the economy was bad and horrible, when the fact is we had better GDP gains than Trump just did. They celebrate Trump's accomplishment (which is a lot less than an accomplishment compared to the three higher GDP increases) but ignore what happened under Obama. Don't get me wrong - The economy was horrible under Obama, but that was because he took office in the middle of a recession. The republican party constantly drilled the phrase "the economy is horrible" into our minds when in fact the economy was constantly improving. At one point the unemployment rate was 10% and when Obama left office it was half that. The Republican party continued to drill this into the mindset of the Republicans, which is nearly half of the country.

They did the same with "Hillary Clinton is a criminal". This morning over breakfast someone I had just met told me they couldn't vote for Trump or Hillary. Why couldn't they vote for Hillary? She has never been charged with a crime, and was perfectly qualified. But the Republican party drilled it into our minds that "Hillary was a criminal".

Politics is largely about marketing, and crafting the message. The Republican party has been very successful at tricking us into believing the direct opposite of the truth.
