Ready Player One! Just finished watching it.

started watching it about a month ago but never got chance to finish it.

I have to say it's a really great movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The shining, Iron Giant, B2TF etc.

I'll check it out

didn't like it. I heard the story in the book was impressive and that it makes you think. I havent read the book but i thought, lets watch the movie.

However this movie was the opposite of that. Very shallow, obviously made for kids and teenagers, a 'profound' idea of a VR world and the inevitable 'profound' message... which isn't a profound message at all and we heard it a 1000 times already. With a couple of nice references to other (good) movies.

A bad movie, where the only good things are references to good movies, doesn't turn it into a good movie.

Now that i think of it, it has minor things in common with the Matrix. But where the Matrix was about the extinction and eslavement of the human race, a completely destroyed earth, humans living like rats and the VR goggles were cocoons where you're in a coma being grown like a vegetable... Ready player one is about lazy people who could live a normal life but choose to put on their VR goggles to play a videogame instead.

The stakes are so extremely low to take it seriously. I really didn't care about any of it at all. Maybe that's why the Matrix is one of the top movies ever made and this one is shit.

You've stated numerous times that you hate Hollywood and you hate American culture.

In every movie thread, without fail, you really hate the movie. Your alt-right agenda is obvious, not to mention you come from a country that makes zero movies people anywhere watch.

Great movie! I saw it on IMAX 3D and it was like riding an awesome roller coaster :banana

Took kids to cinema to see it and enjoyed it. Not gonna win any oscars but well worth a couple of hours chill time

The movie itself nothing special, predictable and obvious BUT amazingly beautiful and full of easter eggs. I enjoyed seeing Goro, King-Kong, The Iron Giant, Jim Raynor, Mecha-Godzilla, The Delorean, etc. in one movie. It was fantastic how they gave me all characters I love from my childhood. Totally worth watching it, especially with kids :thumbsup

That's awful, I grew up watching all that stuff . . .

If you like an old-fashioned Steven Spielberg summer movie (and I do) then you will like it.

You're too up your own ass to enjoy anything. One quality of a smart person is to know WHEN to not think so much.

I liked the movie but was hoping for more somehow.

I got really excited when "The Shining" scene started. I was really hoping they were going to go for a deep-dive into the movie but unfortunately it didn't.

It's available now on-demand and hopefully it should be on Netflix soon. I'll give it a second viewing sometime soon.

I don't think it will be the same at home as it was 3D IMAX at the theatre.

CurrentlySober 08-06-2018 03:18 PM

There's enough full scenes on youtube to piece together the entire movie for free :2 cents:

lezinterracial 08-07-2018 03:14 AM

I liked it pretty good. The Shining part was my favorite part.

Pretty good is really great for me. Find it more difficult to get entertained as I get older.

You're right... nothing compares to IMAX. I don't even see movies in AVX unless I have to. I *love* the IMAX format.

beavr 08-07-2018 09:37 AM

that move is great indeed. go VR, go

Wilbo 08-07-2018 09:47 AM

I read the book first then watched the movie a couple months later. I liked the book better.

hottoddy 08-07-2018 08:32 PM

As usual, the movie can only capture part of the book. It does a good job of the basic VR stuff, but the book is a much richer story.

GAMEFINEST 08-07-2018 09:00 PM

I will watch it soon!
