Even a 3 point loss here by Dems is a win :thumbsup

This will be close. I think if the difference is .5% or less there will be a recount.

Looks like a nail biter.

Whoever wins gets to do this again in November so this election really doesn't mean much more than acting as a sign of what is to come in a few months.

Facts are Trump has lost his 11 point lead there even after campaigning there yesterday.

Trump has pissed away all his political capital in just 18 months. Unheard of.

This district should be more than 11 points ahead for Balderson. This is a huge GOP referendum against Trump.

It is bad for Trump no matter what happens. The polls showed this a dead heat before he came here to campaign and obviously he didn't move the needle.

Franklin County is now at 99% and that just gives O'Conner this result

Yep.

Trump's campaigning there had zero impact on percentages so far.

Trump is officially a lame duck if the GOP doesn't win by a solid 1 point tonight.

Voter turnout percentages are par with 2016 and this is a special election which many don't participate in..

The precincts in Franklin county are those tiny blue smudges of northern Columbus metro area. Which would be left leaning as are most metro areas.

Bladewire 08-07-2018 07:24 PM

Wow! 3,730 provisional ballots yet to be counted outside Delaware county and expected to go 2/3 Democrat

Provisional ballots for Franklin & Delaware not yet estimated but could be around 8k.

Trump has pissed away all of his political capital in 18 months.

The last Republican candidate to run in this precinct won by 37 points! Balderson is maybe 1 point holy fuck!

This presinct has not gone Democrat in 38 years and only 1 democratic elected there since 1938.

Bladewire 08-07-2018 07:31 PM

An additional 2,750 early votes yet to be counted.

No more Trump train, his momentum is completely gone, he can't even give a big win to a long time big blue presinct by campaigning in the area for a measly representatives seat. Wow

hottoddy 08-07-2018 08:36 PM

Republicans hold Ohio ...

... and all of socialist star Ocasio-Cortez's endorsed candidates lost Tuesday primaries.

ilnjscb 08-07-2018 09:03 PM

I can't see how this result is anything but bad for the republicans. Even barely making it even costs 5M$ and a presidential visit. Something has gone wrong, whether it is dislike of Trump, or dislike of congressional republicans.

Which is good news for centrists democrats and independents. Most of us are not socialists. The people that are turning red districts are centrists. Bill Clinton, not Hillary.

Why?

I do not even know what happened, but it seems to me like this was a huge win for Democrats - even if they lost. This was a district the Democrats haven't won in thirty-five years. Just the fact that the Democrats came so close is a wake up call for Republicans.

Also, take a look at the money they invested. From what little I saw on TV tonight (which wasn't very much) the Republicans spent $5 million while the Democrats spent $1 million.

MFCT 08-08-2018 12:28 AM

Well of course the Dems will win. Why are you even asking?

Its obvious to all voters that Trump and the Republicans have destroyed every single facet of society and the economy. They've ruined everything.

EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

beerptrol 08-08-2018 01:05 AM

Both of them will have to do it all over again as the term lasts until November

Yep!

Shocking that Trump has lost his grip on Republican voters in just 18 months.

Imagine how many voters Trump will lose after the first time Manafort is found guilty.

Imagine how many more voters after that Trump will lose when Mueller indicts Trump's son.

Imagine how many more voters on top of that Trump will lose when he fires Mueler.

Imagine how many voters will never claim to be Democrat ever again once they see the party has been deceiving them all along.

Dems had 87% turnout last night in a special election... They threw everything at it.. And lost...

You've won 1 out of 9 special elections.....

You speak of money spent.. Because they are broke... Last I saw they were still millions in the hole from 2016

You keep trolling me and insulting me so now I'll give you the truth.

Sucks you don't make money in adult and your high and mighty posts in political threads proves exactly why. Your company Twitter hasn't been updated since 2016. More money for me. Lots of free time because my sites put money in my bank accounts automatically every day :thumbsup I have time all day to go-to the beach, steps from my house, post about politics, exercise my new dog, go shopping, etc. Grow up and stop being a bitter asshole.

I think it will be a tough one for a Democrat to win this seat.. Ohio is middle of nowhere with lots of uneducated people in the rural areas. These are the people that still believe everything Trump says..

Usually you dont flip a seat like this all of the sudden. It usually takes a few close elections to cause a long held seat to flip.

Being it's this close in one election says a lot, but I'd still be surprised if he wins.
