I was broken into last night
 

Nothing was stolen except the garage door opener. Tools were laid out everywhere bikes were exactly where they were cupboards were all open but I've been looking around and honestly cant find anything missing. I purchased and installed a better newer garage door opener and a few security cameras. I'm thinking they're planning on coming back (if dumb enough). Should probably invest in a gun just in case.

Yeah stealing the garage door opener is a red flag they'll be back damn. So sorry this happened to you :(

Did you file a police report? If not , do so. It needs to be on record this happened. When you file they'll tell you what neighbors have had break-ins and or attempted break-ins and they'll likely increase police patrols in your area.

I have a Glock 19 but the thing that really makes me feel safe is an all wood, hardwood mahogany war axe (I call it my hatchet ) I bought from a tribe in Fiji it cracks open coconuts and watermelon with almost no effort. They call it a "neckbreaker" (like mine pictured below) :thumbsup

I did file a report. Police said they'll patrol the area at the early morning around when I believe it happened. Probably Not gonna sleep tonight lol. I have a baseball bat, pretty sure it was just some meth heads maybe got spooked before they took anything. Pretty wicked hatchet.

Maybe the perpetrator wasn't a criminal, per se. Maybe he just sells garage door openers and security cameras.

Had the same thought, funny thing is i actually had a door to door sales man come by 2 weeks ago, he was selling security cameras and Alarm systems. I said I wasn't interested. Never know.

i'd get on a ladder and unplug my garage door opener for the night and get it replaced or the frequency changed.

Might be a stupid q: can you buy a taser / taser gun there? If yes, why ppl still buy guns? [I mean, if you can resolve the issue w/o killing anyone]

It's been an angerfest over here. Even if they catch whoever did it I'd still want to have a few minutes in a room with them/him.

Don't underestimate how quickly they will attempt to return. Monday morning 2 am, someone either entered one of our properties through the 3rd floor roof top door, or they picked the two locks at the front door. They walked out with a tablet, phone, cash, and one set of house keys. A female colleague who was there at the time called me in panic. I had her barricade all the doors, and go back to sleep. 5 am, he returned with keys in hand. She was watching him through the window, as he successfully unlocked the front door locks, but was unable to actually open the door.

If I was a criminal, going door to door pretending to sell security cameras & alarm systems would be a good way to get potential targets to tell me how protected their homes are. Scary to think that guy could be your thief..

Even worse, what if he broke in so you'd call him to buy a security system?! Kind of like those firemen that go out starting fires.

You need to kill someone in order to stop them from coming back. Be assured that letting someone live will only bring death to yourself.

get a new garage door opener/frequency remote. Also, invest in some home protection. I never can wrap my head around NOT having protection at my disposal.

Exactly, could very well be. But unlucky for him I just purchased a totally different system he was trying to sell me. So if he shows up at my door again, I'll say "actually Best Buy had a pretty good deal on home security items so I'm now well protected"
