Volumetric / Lightfield videos - the next generation VR is coming
 

As presented at Siggraph (must watch, only 30 min out of that video is Google), it's based on 16 GoPro cameras that make a capture in 20sec then rendered in 6DOF experience you can walk around in up to 1m distance and see things from different perspective. Resulting file in the highest quality would be around 200MB. Current generation of 180 VR videos is called "photorealistic stereo panoramas" by Google LF team.

I can find it great for porn and that was requested many times in VR communities. At SexLikeReal we would be happy to partner with any producer who wants to get into it. We could help with R&D, provide our infrastructure for hosting and rendering and make it compatible with SLR app.

You are wrong on both. Many people were saying this over the past 3 years, but VR is still progressing. July is our all time record sales month. Facebook, Google, Samsung, Nvidia, Microsoft, Sony and many others are heavily investing into VR infrastructure that will make it to mass market because they realise huge potential of that medium. Hype comes and goes, all the amazing VR content that has been created is here to stay and get improved. And you don't want to miss it.
