Slavery is never ok. Why would you even?

Back in the early settler days of America, people were either self-sufficient or they were dead. Self-sufficient, meaning they didn't need jobs, and they didn't need a $100k slave to tend a row of tomatoes. They made their own way by their own work.

Consequently, there was no workforce. The huge businesses and corporations of the day (giant plantation owners) were in a predicament. Nobody needed a job or wanted to work for some a-hole when they could work for themselves and meet all their own needs. In the rare event that anyone did need money, self-made moonshine for bartering was as good as any currency (and why making moonshine is still to this day one of the biggest crimes anyone can commit).

How did plantation owners solve their workforce predicament? Slavery. Undesirables from Europe (everyone hated the Irish) and undesirables from Africa (prisoners from warring tribes who were typically put to death).

Not needed. We have the system that we buy goods from countries where people hardly can live from the wage they earn making goods for rich countries. More effective and we keep clean hands. Slavery 2.0 And we have the profit that pollution is also less in the rich countries so we can blame them for the environment. A win win win situation. Better transport the goods and keep the slaves in their own country.

Slavery never left. The tide has changed to The Mexicans / Guatemalans

If your too old to do so, by all means make sure and teach your children and grandchildren to live well under their means! It's the best thing that you can do for them!
