$273 fine for going over a toll bridge

I received a notice that my license was about to be suspended for going over a toll bridge.

No notices that I owed any money until the notice of suspension. It went from a $1.50 toll to $273. I didn't get one fricking notice sent to me saying I owed any money.

This is your government working for you.

Good luck spending hours and days disputing it to a bunch of lazy ass government workers. You won't be able to ever get them on the phone and you'll have to drive down and spend all day waiting at one of the offices.

We got a $36 fine for my kid over going over a toll bridge without paying.

First time on that bridge?

Only time I missed a toll booth I was able to just pay the toll, with no penalty, after I contacted them.

Grandpa.. they have these new kind of toll roads these days with just cameras, no toll booths. If you dont have a "pre-loaded" toll pass card on your windshield they take a picture of your license plate and send you a bill in the mail..

Now that $1.50 toll is now $6.50 because the state lets them charge you a $5.00 "convenience fee" for mailing you a bill...

You can finally disable toll routes permanently on Google maps after like 10 years of complaints.

If its a first time offence, or first time claiming to have an issue with them, respectfully ask to speak to a Supervisor, and have them remove the "penalty". Happened to me many years ago, driving on a toll road, and we forgot to update the license plate with them.

Actually it wasn't the first time on that bridge. The last time I paid the toll when the bill showed up at my house. This time I never got a bill.

So then you try to get out of paying tolls and just see if the bill shows up?

Those roads are expensive to maintain and rely on drivers to support it.

You are disgusting.

65 Louisville into/out of IN bridge.. Built during Obama years.. Only way over on 65.. No toll booths. You either have prepaid or you get fined. Other option is to get off 65 and a 10-15 minute detour. Not enough money in Obama's infrastructure/jobs plan to fund such an important bridge.

No toll booths in Aus, creditcard or prepaid

Australia has offered to fund trumps infrastructure project ;)

Numb nuts up until now it was states who decided if there was a toll on a road or if they wanted to let a private company own a road. The feds had nothing to do with it other than greatly limiting what interstates could have tolls..

Trump wants to remove the restrictions on states adding tolls on federally funded interstates.. Obama didnt ha e shit to do with your bridge to nowhere..... Jesus take some Prozac..

Wrong... Most tolls are privately funded roads.. Many times they are old portions of the federal highway that's been rerouted and are used as bypasses to save time. Hence the charge.. Time is money.. They are not a part of the federal highway system. 65 is not privately funded highway. It is a Federal Highway.. Not only that this bridge the way over the river between 2 states on said major federal highway.. This project should have been funded by the Feds.. Obama couldn't find it in his 10 trillion spending spree... Private interests had to fund it so there's a toll..

shit happen to me, but 25.00 bucks.

There are lots of "federally" funded highways that have tolls.. its still state controlled on the tolls.. Obama didnt put tolls on your dumb bridge..your state's politicians did..

Here we have what is called toll-by-plate. Meaning they take a pic of your plate and you get the bill sent to you in the mail.

Normally, if you have any unpaid tolls, you will know when you go to the DMV to renew your license because you cannot renew until you paid them all. However, you would have received notices in the mail every month before hand and unless you want to extend your time at the DMV and wait in line twice, you will pay them before you go.

So, you cannot just drive around on the toll roads without paying for them. You cannot "try to get out of paying tolls. thinking you magically escaped them unless a bill comes"

There are at least 5 or 6 toll companies that I know of in my state. Normally, I use 2 most often and some are linked where you can use the same transponder on either.

My transponder did not pick up this toll because the toll company was not connected to the company I had the transponder with. So then kicks in toll-by-plate. They must send you a bill at this point. I never got any bill.

So what I am saying here is, that toll company is in cahoots with the local government to fuck people over and generate revenue by not notifying people that might easily forget they drove over a toll bridge, because most suspect they will get a bill because that is how all the other major toll companies work.
