Wow that sucks National Museum in Brazil burnt down
 

Shame to see stuff like this happen, no matter where it was. Sucks to see so much history lost.

Crazy picture though, looks like something out of a horror film.

Thats terrible. I heard on TV that the fire hydrants closest to the museum were not working.

How horrible - two hundred years of history that can never be replaced is just gone.

That picture does't do it justice. The video footage I saw last night had huge flames coming out of the building - the building is huge and all of it had huge flames.

How very sad.

Something similar happened in Bosnia, where also historical archives were burned and many artefacts lost. Tho, fire in Bosnia was result of protests, while here is unknown cause of fire.

This is such a waste and just horrible, all that history erased and no one is able to bring it back.

A building containing so many valuable historic items should clearly be well protected enough for a fire.

I get a feeling budget cuts and/or corruption had some sort of impact, but purely speculative.

Should a use several different building to stop on fire destroying everything.

That is exactly what caused it- they were just about to install anti fire system right before it happened.
