25th Amendment

Sitting members of the current white house administration considered the 25th Amendment.

We are living in some incredible times here.

Rochard 09-05-2018 10:40 PM

It should come as no surprise at all. Trump is insane.

What surprised me is removal of a sitting US President using the 25th amendment was considered twice - both times against Reagan.

Insane? For a guy who profits from failed businesses, he has done pretty good for himself. But, he is not fit to be the president.

Fake news. None of the 25th applies to Trump.....

Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution - Wikipedia

The 25th Amendment specifies what must happen when the position of president or vice president is left vacant for any reason.

Section 1 says that if a president dies or resigns, the vice president will take their place.

Section 2 states that if the vice president can no longer serve for any reason, the serving president will nominate a candidate, which the House and Senate must approve.

Section 3 explains the process by which a president may leave temporarily, and who is to take his place on such occasions.

but as we now know we are lucky to have only a part of his unspeakably shitty politics. half the white house is busy keeping the wildly gone fool from making the biggest mistakes or stealing the pen so he can't sign them.

if this were a hollywood comedy everyone would say that the author had far too many crazy fantasies. but unfortunately this is reality.
I am still waiting to wake up from this bad dream.

Has he profited? How do you know? He hasn't released his tax forms. It seems like nearly everything he says is a lie so....

He failed at running a casino. How is that possible?

If this is what you're placing your hopes in, you'd better get ready to enjoy every day until Jan 20th 2021 with Trump as president. And as for the post-presidency conviction so many of you are hoping for? See John Edwards.

Do something less delusional, like vote, assuming you live in the US. If you don't live in the US, read some better written fantasy like Tolkein.

Not placing any hopes into anything. I am just the messenger here. The source said the 25th was considered. I found that to be interesting.

ilnjscb 09-06-2018 06:44 PM

It was written, so it's been considered before

Any reason you didn't quote Section 4?

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Did you know the 25th amendment was almost used on Reagan? His own staff almost removed him from office, it literally came down to one meeting where he "came back to normal" so they didnt vote to remove him...

Removal of Reagan From Office Suggested to Baker : Report Said Aides Described President as Depressed, Inept in Wake of Iran-Contra Crisis - latimes

After he got caught for selling weapons to terrorists, Reagan became so depressed he wasnt even functioning on a basic level as the President.. I guess he got cheered up when Ollie North took the fall for him..
