Are you using this yourself? I know we have more surfers then webmasters so this might informative. :)

To this day I have to admit that I have never had a VR headset on my head in my life. Porn or no porn, I've never been in a position to even try it.

Not in a store, not at a pals, never.

But If anyone wants to send me a headset to review their porn on, I'll be happy to try it though LOL

Using it yes. For porn no. I'm not really a porn watcher.

I am a domainer of nearly 20 years. Even though many domainers have over-hyped dreams of this tech, I am very realistic about it. I am a 'techie' yes. But one who also plays with the bleeding edge of development in both electronics and computer code.
But I am also very good at trend spotting and analyzing (and investing in that).

This is going to be a consumer staple, no matter what folks think of it now.
The only question is 'WHEN' ?

While I see a gradual progression of the tech, it would have varying opinions of what level is enough to make it worth your investment for a return.

My advise would be just this:
Get a very basic outfit to record and play back.
Understand the difficulties with production and determine some ' do's and don't s '.
By that time you should be able to make a more informed judgement as to the exact level you need to get started. For if you overdo it, you may be setting yourself up for failure.
This tech is unlikely to suddenly go 'BOOM' but if you don't get your foot in the door, eventually, you may find it hard to play ball when it is very clear you need to be in this space.

Over the next 2 years, the hardware is reaching a very respectable level of quality that will be sure to attract more attention.

As just a biz equation, I would say this.
You know the markets move to higher and higher tech in the porn biz.
You will be investing in something 'NEXT' This should be part of it.
So the question is, can you afford to miss it ?
And I can't answer that one. That's for you.
Just be careful of the level you jump in initially.
I think after a year of seeing the data from consumers, you will understand the next steps.
As with any biz, watch your overhead.

It's great for porn and not for porn

To clarify, I don't mean send me an oculus rift or anything like that. I have a Galaxy S7, so something I can put that in, and access to your content is all I'd need !

Its a novelty.
First time you watch porn VR, its amazing but after 5th or 6th time, you've kind of seen it all before.
Unlike gaming and other apps, theres only so much you can do with porn VR.

Most VR sites send you something for this for free on signup.

You can Google for "cardboard vr" and get one for $5?
