Interesting...some of those towns most of the mexicans left and were replaced with what looked like white Americans...and magically it's a peaceful place...imagine that

What a load of shit... Cliff notes: "No one needs a gun, except the criminals" "Someone gets shot every time I'm in the US, no one gets shot in Mexico."

This isn't new. It's been going on for decades. Retired folks who cannot afford to live in Southern California move across the border and live in Mexico where everything is dirt cheap, and American dollars go far. For the YP conventions we used to go just sixty miles south of the border to little town called La Salina Del Mar, and there was dozens of them there living out their lives. Once a month they would return to the US, get their mail, cash their checks, and go back home to Mexico.

A former co-worker from way back in the mid-90's retired to Mexico. He was talking about how he rented a house with a pool in a nice little town and had a weekly maid and it was around $500 a month. He said for about $1500 a month he lived the life that would take $7000+ a month to live here.

Ajijic and Lake Chapala are quite nice. Almost perfect year round weather. Close to the airport in Guadalajara, and about an hour into the city. If you want to be around of Expats its great for that. Lots of better options if you wish to immerse into the local life a bit more, and cheaper.

I have seen several gringo communities in Mexico. San Miguel de Allende, Playa del Carmen. But some real nice places getting more expensive than the US or Western Europe. In the winter a lot of Canadians and people from the USA occupy so may long term appartments the prices get crazy. At least at the Carribean coast.

Many of them have houses in the USA and rent them out, makes enough to live in Mexico without working... But you must love granny's, most are 55+

The wall isn't to keep Mexicans out, it's to keep Americans from going to Mexico.
