I love Mexico, bro. If I weren't living in RP, I'd move to Mexico.

Would have been more interesting if he would have actually tried to go out and get a decent dinner with the rest of his pesos, rather than buying peanuts and tequila from the store.

I think can do 2$/day vegetarian or 5$/day normal here in the carribean easy...2$ or 100 pesos buys more fruit and veggies than I can possibly eat in a day...I got 10 large avocados for 2$...3$ or 150 pesos buys me 4 fried chicken peices with a full plate of fries...or like 20 eggs...I am not sure about the eggs maybe 15?...the largest mango ever is like 50 cents...its like a rugby ball...maybe it was not a mango but some strange shit but it tasted great...theres this mud covered black and wet thing like some thick root...this is popular and seems dirt cheap...

This is all from local street vendors and the prices at beachfront tourist restaurants are naturally much higher...

Is that in the DR? If so, how do you like living there so far?

It's definitely affordable to live in Mexico. Was just in CDMX a couple weeks ago.

Some cities/neighbourhoods are more dangerous than in the USA.

more dangerous or just dangerous? those areas are drug holes its not rocket science. most people in mexico are friendly but if you have money you can go missing. in the usa you dont live in bad areas if you have money. :2 cents::2 cents: understand???

what "type" of traveler are you?...I am 3rd world myself and I have very very thick skin...I do not mind the ants in my bathroom...I do not care that the roof is leaking on the gas stove...no fucks are given about the fridge making weird sounds...I am absolutely destroyed from mosquito bites and horse flies because I like to roam at night as well but no fucks given...

this is what it boils down to...what "type" of traveler are you?...if you can handle life in 3rd world countries and living outside of hotel resorts with a smile on your face then the DR is paradise...I am a big dude, so no trouble for me anywhere...women and smaller dudes may have a different experience but all the expats here seem happy and unafraid...

I guess my biggest gripe is that so few people speak english but it is really my fault for not knowing spanish enough...I am learning tho...knowing spanish here will go a loooong way in making your visit cheaper and better...

In addition to the kidnapping, and violence, gotta worry about the much higher rates of Amebiasis, Ascariasis, Giardia, Chagas, Tuberculosis . . . Would you eat a 20 peso taco down some alley?

If you want to live real cheap, gotta risk things with the common people. It's much safer in "ex pat" or tourist communities - but prices are much higher.

yes, didn't have a problem with that. Is almost 1 euro, expensive taco.

Also eat food on the Streets on Bali, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia.
Look where the most (local) people eat.
