I want to learn Spanish. How many languages can you speak ??
We always got French and German at school which was pretty much useless to everybody. Most Brits if anything could do with some basic Spanish in their life so...Yeah i'm gonna give it a bash.
Returned from vacation in Tenerife a couple weeks back and the Brits who assume every Spanish person should speak perfect British, and if they can't understand the ridiculous accents the English and Scottish have then you end up having some British wanker getting angry at some dude in his own country but not fully understanding every accent and bullshit that comes with it. Gonna set myself a target and see how long it takes me to get to grips with it :upsidedow :playboy |
Try the https://www.duolingo.com/ app (its free), I always finish a quick lesson or two when taking a dump :D (also learning Spanish)

Hola!
I can just imagine some half drunk Brit going off at a local because s/he expects this temporary holiday location to have the same language and culture as their own country, just with better weather. Then again, I imagine the Bali locals like drunk Aussies just about as much... |

Like i say the English language is one thing, but when you have people from say Liverpool (which is the worst accent on the planet) getting angry at bar staff who were acrually very, very polite, simply because they atruggled to make out exactly what they were saying. In their drunken state of course. Very annoying and hard to watch. Staff are trained or already taught how to speak English. But don't expect them to know what "give iz two voddies and coke and an 'alf pint lager and one of them blue cocktail fings" is... |
i've learned german in school, english too.
I was trying to learn Japanese in 2009 but it was too hard for me. Now i want to try Chinese. The best way i guess is speaking with natives. Good luck with Spanish! |
Top Tip.
1) Enter the USA and overstay your visa. 2) Get picked up and put in a detention center awaiting your deportation. 3) 6 and a half months later, you will return to the UK speaking fluent Spanish. Simples... |

i'm working on 5 and 6 right now. I'm pretty spotty with the other languages honestly, but I can get by with most of them.
try duolingo. It's free and it makes a game out of it. A bit more productive than candy crush i find heh also spanish is a good place to start. |

Yep will use duolingo and see how it goes. And yeah, Spanish would be a perfect 2nd language for me. I still know basic French but couldn't have a proper conversation in French. Spanish would be very handy and useful... |

Oh, it gets easier once you get going. You learn where to focus more, what is more useful, less useful etc. |
