14 out of the 21 races on ballot have candidates running unopposed.

Here was the breakdown on my ballot:

2 races had more than 2 candidates
5 races had 2 candidates
14 races had only 1 candidate.

It's no wonder there is no real change.

Have you considered running for office?

If there are that many running unopposed it is either because everyone loves them or nobody else is standing up and putting themselves out there.

I know quite a few people that have dipped their toes in the political scene.

No sane person wants in after realizing what it entails and how it will (most likely) negatively impact their life.

Look at Twitter. YouTube. Facebook. Random message board (GFY.)

Would you really want that?

Smart people. Successful people. They stay private. Enjoy life, little public scrutiny, succeed.

Yeah licking ass for donations all day? I'll pass. Unless you're a very rich person you can't self finance a House race properly.

I agree. But that means that for certain positions there will be very little competition.

There have been some good people in politics but most would avoid it any way possible because of the cost financially, emotionally and familywise.
