What the fuck happened to RAP? (VIDEO)

Now that crunk has turned into musical road kill, let's just hope this recent 'trend' follows it. What the fuck? Seriously.

Looks like nothing happened . . .

bronco67 11-12-2018 07:10 PM

It still sucks....

I can't believe this is the bullshit that's popular, when there's so much good rock n roll out there right now, made by actual musicians who play actual musical instruments together focused on making love to your ears with complex melodies.

King Mark 11-12-2018 07:11 PM

Looks can be decieving. That rainbow head fag been shooting at people and getting shot back at a lot in the last year.

Ridiculousness. My city (NY) created it, but lost it along the way.

HairyChick 11-12-2018 07:51 PM

I’m sorry I clicked. Crunk? Junk. The rainbow-haired guy, rainbow balloons and eating the ice cream cock err cone ... it’s a Pride rap video. The rapper loses his words in mumbling, the cute doggie looks scared and that woman or transsexual with fake hair isn’t sexy at all.

Rap was NWA. Guys in the hood being hassled by cops for being black, murders daily, no jobs and no one caring. True stories told to music.

This was bubblegum music with nothing to make it stand out. It was like watching Hanson rapping.

I like hardcore rap that told of life you didn’t hear about. Not guys looking to make it rich for bling, babes, blow, Bacardi and Benz.

If you study old school rap, you’ll realize that the crap being sold today is imitation rap. The music was basic but lyrics were the spoken truth.

First rap CD I bought was either Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Flash or NWA. I bought that white rapper CD whose name I forget Ice Ice Baby. He stole the chords of Queen’s Under Pressure. I can picture him, some rich kid Van Winkle I think. Truthfully, he rapped pretty good for a rich white wannabe. White Fresh Prince!

Vanilla Ice

Still lots of good new rap out there but that is not one of them. That is the new "mumble rappers" that is complete shit.

Some of the newer ones I like are

Post Malone
MoneyBagg Yo
NBA Youngboy

then the usual ones that are still around
Tech N9ne
Eminem
Snoop Dogg
Gucci Mane
Too Short is still releasing new stuff.

abshard 11-12-2018 10:57 PM

This shows you there are good and bad new rappers

I 95% agree with pretty much all of this video :thumbsup

(edit I thought 2 of his bad ones were decent but agree 100% on his good ones)

I give Tekashi 2 years tops before he's dead if he keeps going like he is.

I love the blow by blow commentary in hushed, contemplative tones trying to emote a sense of urgency

"oh my god"

"Teka$hi getting beat"

Dude should apply for a golf tournament commentator spot PRONTO! :1orglaugh

If you think rapping is easy just because they don't play instruments, you're very mistaken. There's more to it than just talking on a mic.

nico-t 11-13-2018 03:50 AM

When you thought it wouldn't get worse than 'gucci gang'... Well, it did. I was changing channels a while ago and landed on this "music" video. I stopped changing channels, i was in awe: Amazed by the fact this apparently is getting played on tv and radio. It is the worst thing that is supposed to be a "song" i have ever heard.

I seriously think stuff like this is created by execs just to see how low they can go. I think it is a game for them: They are laughing their asses off at the fact that people are so fucking stupid, they can sell these totally retarded sounds to them as music.

There are probably plenty of laughing assholes sitting on exec chairs, but I'd say top 40 is more like a feedback loop. Identify a broad trend, give it wide radio and music TV play to get it into people's heads, then make more of the same shit. There's nothing new about that strategy, but it's probably more efficient these days.

SBJ 11-14-2018 01:39 AM

good to see Cube is still in the game and his new album drops Dec 7th

JesseQuinn 11-14-2018 02:34 AM

hip hop, dancehall and reggaeton make the world go round. or mine at least. old stuff and new. listening to a wicked track for the first time is a delight, it makes my day but I'm weird that way.

really some of y'all can't find anything new and awesome?

those who can please get off my lawn with your flowing locks and enthusiasm for life

I have respect for the pioneers of rap and there's a few today who I like, but 90% of it is garbage. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Do you agree that autotune and hyper editing degraded contemporary music?

beerptrol 11-14-2018 03:37 PM

Just fire up the autotune and come up with a shitty rap. You'd me the next internet/youtube crapper

royce.dietrich 11-21-2018 07:59 AM

There is a dozen of the good raper performers and that is it. Others are trash

JesseQuinn 11-21-2018 08:49 AM

^^^that's what a lot of peeps don't realize. time weeds out the wheat from the chaff. remember at one point the Monkeys and those Hanson kids topped the charts :helpme

or if hip hop is truly dead who'd be down for a group suicide pact? the artists I love (and new ones I discover) push me through life. I can't dance like a fucking lunatic in the privacy of my own home to crap. Where I live NO ONE but me listens to hip hop or reggaeton. It's really odd actually. I've met more peeps here who love Depeche Mode and don't care for Tupac or Nas.

We achieve mutual delight in dancehall so all is good though. and Depeche Mode is objectively amazing :)
