My favorite thing about our industry....

My favorite thing about our industry is talking to someone in our industry that you used to know and send traffic to.... Just had an hour long phone call with someone I haven't talked to since Phoenix Forum in 2008 or so...

That's cool. I enjoy communicating with industry people that were once in the industry, as well as people that are still actively involved in the industry. Establishing contacts with people that work in the same field as you do is always a good thing. You can teach each other, as well as learn from each other. That's one of the things that I've always enjoyed. Just basic networking, and even shooting the shit by hanging out and doing things that are not even industry related.

My favorite thing about the industry, when I was in it, was the naivety I had in the beginning. I was young and had this grand idea of being a part of something awesome.

Once I started figuring everything out and realized I got in right at the top of a very steep hill 99% of us were about to roll down together... It got corny for me. Then I started practicing Islam more consciously and just personally couldn't do this adult stuff anymore.

I've met some awesome people tho. Most of whom disappeared. I hired one for my offline biz and he has been the most reliable employee I've ever had and still continues to be. Friend for life. I will always be grateful for that.

Conversations about politics and talking about the old days... And I just gave cologne advice.

Have we ever spoke before? Or you mad I assassinated squealers persona? Matter of fact, don't answer... Don't want you ruining Rochards positive thread.

The thing I loved about my job was a new day, a new girl with a different personality.

Many years ago ( aside low budget "shoot them ups" ) I was making " erotic thrillers" ( but even then with a bit of lesbian kink). When this model ( VHS and then DVD) of business went to shits about 15 years ago, all what I had left were the " erotic thrillers"... Now I make them cheaper ( no guns, bangs, stunts, multiple extras, SFX etc.) and a bit " harder". My friends here have helped me with the " new" technology to keep my audience. So many thanks to at least five GFYers who did help me ( by actually working with me on stuff) over the years and more who helped me without even knowing ( since I have heeded their posts) and those who may help me in the future. :thumbsup

This brings back VERY bad memories.

I remember a long long long time ago promoting adult using Google Adsense.

I was in full time employment at the time and did adult on the side.

I remember I used to get repeated phonecalls from Google in the middle of the day while I was at work asking questions about keywords and the websites I was promoting.

Felt really awkward talking to this rep about sex at the same time trying to do it discreetly so my boss didn't hear.

Broke and wanted some money?

It’s like the that for me every day. Usually I remember bits and pieces of the past with them but occasionally I’ll remember clearly.

The difference in ten years is shocking. New technology, new scams, and trying to come up with a new idea that sells. TGP and submissions were the main draw and any moron could steal pics and submit and make bank. Then the smart people learned promotion and doing more than submit galleries.

The “I submitted to The Hun and got 20 signups today” threads were common and great to read until “proof!” posts came along. Photoshop! posts followed until a site rep confirmed it. Then past lies would be there. You’d see ten page threads and in the end, no one cared!

Back then porn was easier to sell. With the tubes, you need a new plan to lure in customers. Tubes are TGPs for videos. We old-timers need to think back fifteen years and what sold and how.

Shit, I remember in 1994 the Usenet newsgroups were free. I’d post a few images and forty signups wasn’t unusual. One competitor only and $9.95/month got you pictures only. The internet was being discovered by horny people! 14.4 modems took hours to download porn only to find out your computer froze trying to see it. 56k was the Maserati of speed.
