People who do not understand technology

So I am at my in-laws house, I have my laptop out, and I am trying to work.... In the kitchen I hear my wife, my mother in law, and my brother in law trying to figure out how to set up his new cell phone.... And I am trying to stay the fuck out. Eventually someone says "We should ask Richard for help". Shit. They got the new phone working but the pictures didn't move over. My lord. Simple. They are both Android phones, both of them have Google Pictures, upload them online and that's that. Then they are online and you can access them from the new phone.

I also set it so that all new photos he takes also goes online.

Easy peasy. I listened to them struggle through this for forty-five minutes.

Mother in law complained to me that she cannot get her new laptop to pick up her email and I was like "Why not just use Gmail to pick up all your email". Forty-minutes later she's all set up.

Next it seems I need to repair a headlight on a truck.

While I have explained it and showed her the difference a hundred times, my mom thinks Facebook and Gmail are the same thing. She is decent with tech stuff and had done a pretty good job with her phone. She even orders stuff on Amazon, but she can't figure out Gmail and Facebook. If she calls me and says, "I went into my Gmail" I am 100% sure she is on Facebook.

I guess it's better than my mother and father who could never ever set the time on the damn VCR.

I remember getting my first PC. I was too afraid to touch anything, I had to call my tech friend to show me how to get passed the login screen.

One time I had to call tech support and man o man was the guy pissed at me, ever been called a dummy by tech support? Looking back I understand why. I naturally thought left click was right click, every time he told me to left click I would say "nothings happening".

I miss it.

So last week my grandma's computer breaks and it's "ask Natalie, she knows technology" :) I can't re-install your Windows 7. I haven't worked with windows for 4 years.

I couldn't figure out why my in-laws we're getting so much spyware and viruses on their computer. Turns out they were searching Google for "Hotmail" and clicking on the ad that showed in at the top of Google results, not noticing it was something like Hotmail.com-scammersite321.cn

This is what scares me. There are a lot of people out there that have no clue. All of their computers will be hacked.
