Anyone participated in a class-action?
I've gotten class-action notices before, but never participated. I know typically the lawyers make bank and the aggrieved parties get little to nothing, but yesterday I got a notice about the CenturyLink merger litigation. Since I bought their stock when it was low - right after the tech bubble burst when they were still Quest - I can join the class-action. Since the suit is for $12B, I thought I might.
"you may obtain reimbursement of your reasonable and actual out-of-pocket disbursements that would not have been made but for this request by submitting an itemized statement" Not sure what they're asking. Shares bought, or am I to speculate some hypothetical value that was never realized as a result? |
I did once. It was from Amazon in a settlement with a book publisher. I had purchased one of the books by this publisher. I think I ended up getting about $10. Another friend was in the same suit and ended up getting about $40 because he had purchased more books than me.

I got a class action suit settlement before and the check was for $8.

I joined one against AT&T, think i ended up with $40 the law firm made millions. Hardly worth the effort of filling in all the paperwork ?

If i see one against HUGHESNET i will join that even if there is no monetary outcome. Like to see those lying fuckers taken down for good!

Yeah. The entire class all made monkey noises when the teacher, Mr Wakeling walked in.
He was very hairy and did indeed look like a monkey. The entire class got detention but I just went home instead after school, as my Mum would have been cross had I come home late. |
Many years ago my wife gave to Sotheby's inherited 4 carat yellow diamond ring to sell at auction. Expecting to yield over 50 K she got barely 10 K. Years later a notice came about class action against Sotheby's. She joined, Sotheby's lost and she got about 150 bucks after " expenses", so nothing to loose but rarely anything real to be gained.
